MP’s son’s body to be flown to Kenya, Wednesday

The body of Ikolomani Member of Parliament Bernard Shinali’s son Chris Atema Masaka is set to be flown to Kenya Wednesday, ahead of burial likely to follow days later.

Atema, a United States marine officer, drowned in a swimming pool in the state of Arizona last week.

The family on Monday said that arrangements to fly his body home have been concluded, and it is expected in Kenya any time on Wednesday.

The planned transportation follows a funeral service in Iowa where friends of the 35-year old got an opportunity to pay their last tributes.

According to Robert Ayisti, a brother to the deceased, Masaka who was on holiday drowned while trying to save a young girl who was drowning in the same pool.

Consequently, the MP has been in the states to organize the transportation, with his Navakholo counterpart Emanuel Wangwe coordinating the burial committees in Nairobi and Ikolomani.

Family reports indicate that the deceased might be laid to rest this weekend.
