MP Peter Salasya Freed on Sh50,000 Cash Bail Over Assault Case

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has been set free after he had been apprehended following an assault against a Kakamega Member of County Assembly on Friday.

The controversial youthful lawmaker was freed on a Ksh.50,000 police cash bail and is set to appear in court on Tuesday, January 16.

Salsya is facing charges of assault, causing physical harm and creating a disturbance in a way that could lead to a breach of peace.

Salasya was on Friday caught on camera slapping Peter Walunya, the area MCA while attending a funeral in Mumias.

In a video that has since gone viral on social media platforms, Salasya is heard imploring the MCA to sit down and after he failed to comply, he landed on him with a hot slap.

The incident stirred mixed reactions on social media, with a section of Kenyans including politicians calling out the MP for his actions.

Police say that during the incident, two of Salasya’s security personnel allegedly fired shots into the air.
