President Uhuru Kenyatta has ended the cessation of movement in and out of Eastleigh area in Nairobi and Old Town in Mombasa.
Addressing the nation from State House on Saturday June 6, President Kenyatta announced that the cessation of movement in the listed areas will come to an end on Sunday June 7, at 4am.
On May 6, 2020 the Government of Kenya announced the cessation of movement into and out of the Eastleigh neighborhood in Nairobi and Old Town in Mombasa starting May 6th at 7 pm for 15 days.
The Government on May 20 then extended its directive on cessation of movement directive in Nairobi’s Eastleigh estate and Mombasa’s Old Town in efforts to contain the spread of coronavirus.
According to the National Emergency Response Committee on Coronavirus, the cessation of movement was to be in place until today June 6.
However, the head of state has extended the cessation of movement in and out of Nairobi Metropolitan area for another 30 days.
President Kenyatta has also extend the dusk to dawn curfew for another 30 days. However, the dusk to dawn curfew will now start at 9pm to 4am.
This is to allow people who are working, to start working on a full time basis.
