Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organisation, a women’s NGO that deals with issues to do with women’s rights and gender equity in Kenya is pushing for more strategic leadership positions in the next government.

This is aimed at powering up economic devolution as it begins countrywide celebrations to mark its 70th anniversary.

The organization which boasts of over 4 million members across the country has endorsed the Azimio La Umoja Coalition for the next government.

The organization’s leadership has affirmed while it has the capacity to influence the outcome of the presidential elections, Women must be placed in positions where they will be able to make greater contributions in governance and political revolution.

“We will give them votes. It is these women who will cast their votes for Azimio but these women need to be paid,” said Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organisation Chairperson HSC, Rahab Muiu.

She spoke at Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega County where the organization held its first nationwide celebrations. Other celebrations will be held in Central, Eastern, Nyanza,Coast, North-Eastern, Riftvalley and Nairobi regions over the next two months.

“We’ve heard there is going to be economic devolution. It has to start with women,” said Muiu.

Over the last 7 decades, several women have had an opportunity to lead and have made tremendous contributions in the country and beyond.

Among these women recognized by the Ministry of Public Service, Gender, Senior Citizens Affairs and Special Programmes include current active members, patrons and leaders of the organisation such as Her Excellency, Mama Ngina Kenyatta, Dr. Jane Kiano, Hon. Phoebe Asiyo, Grace Onyango-first Kisumu Female Mayor, Dr. Julia Ojiambo, Hon. Sen. Zipporah Kittony, Mrs. Joan Mjomba, Mama Shitaka.

“These are the pathfinders who broke the glass ceiling and, on whose shoulders, we stand on today,” said Ministry of Public Service, Gender, Senior Citizens Affairs and Special Programmes Cabinet Secretary, Prof. Margaret Kobia.

Prof. Kobia has credited the country’s improved access to health, education and life expectancy and wellbeing to these trailblazing women leaders.

“Part of this success can be attributed to the work that is done by Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organisation,” said Prof Kobia.

According to the Gender Development Index that measures a country’s access to education, health, life expectancy and wellbeing (WEC 2020), Kenya has improved from position 118 in 2018 to position 95 in 2020 out of 186 countries evaluated.

Kobia paid a special tribute to the women pioneers and trailblazers who have continued to lead the organisation in ‘a very challenging environment.’

Sports Cabinet Secretary, Ambassador Amina Mohamed called on the country to start building systems and developing pro-women policies that will protect women and ensure equality and gender representation. “We must now revisit and do away with the remaining challenges affecting women and systems that are no longer helpful to us,” said Ambassador Amina.

According to the senior counsel, President Kenyatta must clarify whether his interest in the succession politics is personal, family or national.

The lawyer who represented President Kenyatta during the 2017 presidential election petition went ahead to claim that the first in command must be ignored by Kenyans if his interest in the current politics is personal or family based.

Further, the lawyer argues that President Kenyatta had been given 10 years by Kenyans to deal with national issues.

“For H.E UHURU to MAKE SENSE to Mt Kenya & other Kenyans he must explain:”THE PURPOSES OF HIS POST RETIREMENT POLITICS”. Is his “POST RETIREMENT POLITICS” personal, family or national? If its personal/family he MUST BE IGNORED! If it is national, DIDN’T WE GIVE HIM 10 YRS TO DO IT?” tweeted the lawyer.

President Kenyatta while endorsing the former prime minister argued that his deputy William Ruto has not reformed and that he can only be considered if he tores the line in future.

A Kenyan national who was arriving into the country through the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) from Bujumbura in Rwanda on Thursday, February 17, 2022 found himself in trouble after Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) customs officers bounced on him.

This is after the officers intercepted Ksh. 238 million in foreign currency from him.

Reports indicate that the suspect had arrived in the country with the money packed as a parcel containing 2 million US dollars.

The money was seized following a wrongful declaration on the intended destination.

Upon arrival, the passenger made a declaration of the currency indicating the origin as Banque de Credit de Bujumbura (BCB) to a recipient Brinks Global Services, Kenya.

After clearance by Customs Unit at the airport, the traveller later, presented the same money at the Swissport Cargo shed with different export documents for shipment to Global Services, UK.

The documents produced to support the export request were different from those produced on entry into the country.

After noting the inconsistencies in information provided by the passenger, KRA has invited Asset Recovery Agency (ARA) to assist in investigating the matter as a possible money-laundering attempt. The money has been held and the matter is under investigation.

I am a graduate having studied Journalism in the largest Media University in Kenya Multimedia university of Kenya; I graduated with a first class owner’s degree, with lots of hope that the future ahead of me was going to be bright having worked really hard in my studies, I wanted to get its fruit back

Before joining multimedia university I passed highly with grade “A,” that landed me to do journalism a course I was so passionate about, that it was going to change my life once and for all, I had been brought in a very humbled background, and by means of well-wishers and contribution I managed to land myself to collage thinking that it was a break through to life, I knew that once I could complete schooling  I could get a job and start earning, Until I learned that here in Kenya, No qualifications matter, but only a God father, bribes. Those were the only things that could help one get a job I Kenya, what if those of us who come from humble backgrounds with no God fathers, nor money to bribe Officials at interview, Perhaps we would just be jobless forever Isn’t it, During my graduation if I can remember very well speaker after speaker who stood to address at the graduation Square, promised me Heaven, they said that had a direct job with no interview, something has not happened for seven years Now. I visited the said offices dropping my Curriculum vitae (C.V) but never landed any job.

My Parents and siblings, were both looking forward to me to get a job and save them from the poverty life we had been staying in for over seventy years now, with nowhere to go to, perhaps I could not go back to the village, it was going to be shame, I was the only hope, I had the qualifications but nobody considered me for a job, I wondered why people with low academic qualifications as mine got Jobs but in my case I never got that luck, I was full of stress, When I vacated the school premises I had nowhere to go to, Nor even money to buy food to it, So I turned to the streets of Nairobi with no hopes of life, armed with my academic piece of polythene paper always by my arm I moved from street to street, just to pass time, when darkness came I could role myself in a sack and sleep under a fly over. During the day I could visit various construction sites and be given casual Job that earned Kenyan shillings 300 per day, that could only cater for food, One day as I was on a construction going by normal chores, I saw a friend of mine who we had schooled with drive an expensive car, he alighted and started to inspect the work done, little did I know the Manson under construction was his. I ran to him and greeted him, he was shocked to see me do that kind of job despite my qualification, after a chat I asked him how he got the job and became rich at his younger age, he was hesitant but after a while he informed me that Kiwanga doctors spell casting powers had helped him. That doctor kiwanga had casted luck spell in his life, and that in a short while things begun going his way, He gave me doctor kiwanga contacts and asked me to talk to them to change my life.

Without hesitance I contacted doctor kiwanga, booked an appointment and met him in person, he informed me that I was being haunted by bad luck from our family, and that he had removed it and casted good luck in me, he told me I would really love it, A day after meeting the doctor I got a message that requested me to go to a news presenter interview, and that’s why I got  my job, I  have improved my life with that of my family. Thanks to kiwanga doctors for helping me. I advise anyone with a work such, nor a good life such to visit kiwanga doctors because they have the solution to your problem, They also cast real and genuine spells in the world like Love spell, Money spell and black magic spell among other spells, Also treat and heal various illnesses Like Meningitis, Pneumonia and Epilepsy among other diseases.

Optiven Ltd took the initiative to compensate all customers who bought greenhouses at the Kilimo Tujijenge project, after the partner who had been paid to do this reneged on executing their part of the deal.

Soon after 2017, it became clear to Optiven that SME Resource Centre Ltd and its CEO Josephine Gathoni aka June Gathoni were bent on not delivering what they had promised. Optiven took a quick step to report this entity and its director to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), upon which a criminal case has been ongoing for the last 4 years at the Kiambu Law Courts. Optiven and several Kilimo customers are state witnesses against SME Resource Centre and Josephine Gathoni in this ongoing case.

Optiven is a caring partner; so pending the determination of this ongoing case, Optiven begun refunding all affected customers through a cushioning Risk Sharing Initiative. Under this Initiative, Optiven has refunded most of the affected customers’ funds that were directly paid to SME Resource Centre for greenhouses. This underlines the fact that OPTIVEN CARES and is a RELIABLE PARTNER.

Customers have either been refunded cash or swapped the amount that they had lost through SME Resource Centre with new plot/s of land across the various projects owned by www.optiven.co.ke or offset any outstanding balances on plots they are already servicing.

The Kilimo Tujijenge Project, which was to begin in 2017 in Kajiado County, was a partnership between Optiven and SME Resource Centre and was aimed at enabling customers who were to come on board to venture into agribusiness through a greenhouse farming model.

Optiven was to provide the land and value additions such as drilling of boreholes and piping water into every plot, which it did successfully.

SME Resource Centre on the other hand was to install and manage the greenhouses on behalf of customers in addition to marketing the produce. Customers were to get directly paid by SME Resource Centre after all the harvested produce had been sold and expenses deducted.

SME Resource Centre however reneged on its contractual obligations, which saw customers lose on their investments.

Optiven believes in the empowerment of its customers and opted this route as a positive outcome from the ongoing criminal case is hopefully awaited.

Meanwhile, Optiven is alive to the fact that there are a few customers who were affected by this reneged execution by SME Resource Centre, and who opted not to take up the offered cushion, but opted to seek for their compensation through a court process. Optiven will await the outcome of this case that is pending at the Kajiado Law Courts and commits to fully respect and follow the ultimate outcome of this matter when and once concluded.

Optiven Leadership takes this opportunity to apologize to the customers who got affected by this venture. We VALUE you and this is the reason why we opted to do a refund of the cash paid for those greenhouses that did not materialize.

In case you paid for your greenhouse and you have not gotten your refund maybe due to change of your contact or for any other inadvertent technicality, call this number for your refund 0790 300 300 or send an email to customerservice@optiven.co.ke for immediate action.

For those who would like to invest with Optiven, check on our unique properties on www.optiven.co.ke and enjoy our 21 years of experience in empowering current and prospective property owners.

The national chairman of Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Johnson Muthama has stirred mixed reactions on the internet after sending his birthday wishes to ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The former Prime Minister on January 7, 2022 marked his 77th birthday.

Joining other Kenyans in wishing Raila well on his special day was the former Machakos County Senator, who was once his political loyalist.

Muthama who is currently a staunch supporter of DP Ruto through his official Twitter account said that the hustler nation was wishing Raila good health as he celebrates his special day.

Muthama who has declared his interest in the Machakos County gubernatorial seat shared a photo of him with Raila at a past political event, with the caption catching the attention of netizens.

“Happy Birthday Jakom (Raila Odinga). The Hustler Nation wishes you good health as you celebrate your special day,” reads Muthama’s post.

A section of netizens while reacting to the post hailed Muthama for displaying what they termed as statesmanship.

Some argued that the UDA chairman had demonstrated that he is indeed a leader.

“Now, this is leadership. Very good gesture from you sir. We may disagree on some issues but we are all Kenyans. Baba the 5th,” posted one of the netizens.

“Now u have my vote as governor machakos. This has earned you my vote,” another Twitter user called Kevine Oscar reacted.

Muthama was in Raila’s NASA camp during the last 2017 general elections, but did not defend his senate seat. During the 2013 general elections, he was also in Raila’s CORD camp, winning the Machakos senatorial seat on a Wiper party ticket, which was an affiliate of the coalition.

Below are some of the reactions from Muthama’s post.

Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has yet again suffered another loss after another ally from the Mt. Kenya region announced that he had decamped.

The former Igembe North MP Joseph M’Eruaki said he had left the UDA party whose symbol is a wheelbarrow and re-joined Mwangi Kiunjuri’s The Service Party of Kenya (TSP).

This comes barely weeks after Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici left the party over claims of mistreatment and favouritism by top UDA leadership.

Ms Ngirichi, a staunch member and supporter of the UDA party until her defection, had also faulted UDA officials “for treating her badly” despite being one of the key founders and investors in party.

Mr M’Eruaki decamped from UDA on Wednesday, joining a growing list of politicians and aspirants leaving the DP Ruto-led party over disagreements on mergers between UDA and smaller parties.

The former MP, who has already declared his interest in reclaiming his former Igembe North seat, was officially received by TSP leader Mwangi Kiunjuri and Secretary-General Mwenda Makathimo.

The Igembe North seat is currently held by National Assembly Deputy Majority Whip Maoka Maore.

Mr M’eruaki had left TSP early November to join UDA, but bowed to pressure from his constituents, majority of whom are TSP supporters.

Going for live entertainment above canned music or something on a TV is really going the extra
mile.

It’s a way to add a heightened sense of fun and excitement to the already enjoyable time
that is your party.

However, like the food and the venue and the guest list that you put a lot of time into figuring out, the live entertainment is something you need to determine, as well. And by that, we mean: how do you hire the right live entertainment?

Live performers have a tendency sometimes to put guests on the spot, don’t they?

There are the magicians who request a volunteer from the audience, the comedians who want to interact with the audience to make things seem more personal, and the actors who bring the party guests into their theatrics.

What types of events will call for these possibilities? How can you make things not awkward and ensure everyone enjoys the performers you’ve hired? We’ll give you some tips.

Think of the Clientele

You’re hiring this entertainment for your guests, right? So, when you’re considering what kind to hire, think of your party guests as the performers’ clientele.

Your guests will surely have an overarching personality to them. What kind of people are they? Young and wild? Maybe get a rock band to perform.

Older and more given to traditional parties? Perhaps a suave emcee might do well.
Whatever you do, when you search “entertainment near me” online, make sure you choose
appropriate entertainment from the options you see.

Think of the Mood

Another thing to consider is the mood you want to cultivate at this event of yours. Obviously, you’ll want your live entertainment to mesh with the feelings at the party.

Having a birthday party for a 90-year-old? A rock band ain’t gonna cut it. Maybe go for something more traditional, such as a jazz band or relaxing singer.

On the other hand, if you’re throwing an extravaganza for a seven-year-old, why not go all out on the fun and get a magician to come and do magic tricks while also throwing in some comedy?

There are plenty of options out there for these kinds of performers.

Match up the entertainment with the party, and you’ll do just fine.

Think of the Performer’s Adaptability

You know, not every performer can be everything to everyone. There are areas where an entertainer specializes.

That’s going to be his or her strong suit. If you like this aspect of a performer but not that, see if the person can alter some aspect of his or her usual show.

Entertainers who work for hire are not rigid authorities who offer you one type of performance and won’t budge on any detail.

They will probably be happy you’ve chosen them out of all your options and will be more than willing to work with you on the specifics of what you’re planning.

Watch for this kind of flexibility in the entertainment you hire, and you’ll do much better. Keep all these things in mind when hiring live entertainment, and your guests should have the time for their lives.

Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has slammed COTU boss Francis Atwoli over his planned Luhya meeting at the Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega.

Taking to his official Twitter account this morning, the Deputy President William Ruto’s ally urged the Luhya community to ignore the meeting that is scheduled for December 31, 2021.

According to Didmus, Atwoli is more dangerous to the unity of the Mulembe nation, than the most dreaded Covid-19 pandemic.

The lawmaker went ahead to refer to Atwoli as the chief political broker whose days are numbered.

“I beseech the Luhya nation to ignore the fake Luhya meeting being convened by Mzee @AtwoliDza at Bukhungu Stadium on the 31st. The COTU SG is more dangerous than Covid 19 to the unity of the Mulembe Nation. He is the CHIEF political broker whose days are numbered!” tweeted the Tanga tanga lawmaker.

Didmus Barasa’s rant comes just a day after Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala threatened to stop the same meeting.

Malala while addressing Kakamega residents argued that the meeting’s venue is in his political bedroom and that he has not been consulted.

He also argued that for such meetings to happen, the ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi must be consulted as the region’s Kingpin.

Malala told the residents that the meeting convened by Atwoli is fake, and that it has been nullified, urging them not to attend.

Atwoli in his response told off Malala, saying that the lawmaker is a junior senator who has neither the capacity to speak on behalf of the Luhya nation nor the ability to call off such meetings.

Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has torn into Kakaemega senator Cleophas Malala over a Luhya meeting that is scheduled for December 31, 2021 at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega town.

Malala while addressing Kakamega residents on Sunday December 26, 2021 said that the meeting that has been planned by Atwoli is fake, and that it has been called off.

According to Malala, Atwoli must seek permission from Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi before holding a Luhyia meeting.

The vocal lawmaker went ahead to claim that Atwoli wants to use the meeting to force the Luhya community to endorse ODM leader Raila Odinga for 2022 presidency.

Malala argued that Kakamega is his political bedroom, and that there is no any meeting that was going to happen without him being consulted.

According to him, a meeting meant to endorse Raila should be held in one of his political backyards, either in Siaya or Kisumu.

“It is now official. The fake Luhya meeting slated for the 31st Dec at Bukhungu Stadium is hereby nullified, ” Malala posted on Twitter.

However, Atwoli while responding to the claims told off Malala, saying that he was too junior.

Atwoli argued that Malala has no capacity to speak on behalf of the Luhya community, and has no any ability to call off such meetings.

The flamboyant trade unionist went ahead to clarify that the Bukhungu meeting is still on, and that it will bring together all progressive leaders and locals from all the five Western Kenya region counties.

“You are a junior Senator who has neither the capacity to speak on behalf of the Luhya community nor the ability to call on and off such a meeting. The Bukhungu II meeting brings together ALL progressive leaders and locals from the 5 counties in the region,” Atwoli tweeted.

On Sunday December 26, 2021, Atwoli hosted the Orange party leader at his Khwisero home. Raila accepted the invite to attend the Bukhungu meeting.

From Atwoli’s home, Raila toured Busia County where he held meetings in Budalangi.

Raila declared his interest in the 2022 presidential race on Friday November 10, 2021 during the Azimio La Umoja Convention that was held at the Moi Sports Centre, Kasarani.

Deputy President William Ruto, Musalia Mudavadi, Mukhisa Kituyi and National Assembly speaker Justin Muturi are some of the leaders interested in succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta.
