Kapsaret Member of parliament Oscar Sudi has launched a scathing attack on former Jubilee party interim Vice Chairman David Murathe.

Speaking in Eldoret on Saturday, Sudi claimed that Murathe is a renown conman who has been conning the Chinese nationals in Nairobi.

The seemingly furious Sudi was responding to Murathe’s claims that Deputy President Dr William Ruto did not help President Uhuru Kenyatta clinch to power, arguing that the elections were rigged.

In a video shared on his facebook account, Sudi termed Murathe as a foolish politician who failed to win a parliamentary seat.

He challenged Murathe on why he failed to rig the votes to win a parliamentary seat the same way he claimed Uhuru rigged to get to power.

Murathe, the former Gatanga MP, is known as one of the smoothest of political go-betweens for Chinese contractors and the government.

‘Brokerage fees’ and ‘facilitation fees’ for some of the deals, for which Murathe is a high priest, are eye-watering. This is the reason Sudi is perhaps terming him as a renown conman.

Murathe had dismissed the claim that Uhuru is set to retire in 2022.

He argues that the head of state can come back as the Prime Minister of this nation after he completes his tenure in office

“Kwani Uhuru anaenda wapi? (Where is Uhuru going?), Uhuru is going nowhere. He is going to be here even if he stops being president,”

Aerial spraying of locusts that have ravaged northern Kenya will begin today (Saturday), government spokesperson Cyrus Oguna has said.

Wajir’s agriculture chief officer Noor Mohammed had earlier said a helicopter had been dispatched to Mandera for aerial spraying.

Locusts invaded parts of Wajir and Mandera five days ago from neighbouring Somalia.

Affected residents had resorted to shouting, honking of vehicles, striking metallic objects and whistling to get rid of the insects that have left a trail of destruction in their wake.

According to reports, other residents recited the Koran to get rid of the flying pests.

In some areas, police, who were providing security to residents, were seen shooting in the air to scare away the locusts.

The invasion is threatening to wipe out much-needed animal pasture.

By Wednesday evening, the swarms had migrated into Marsabit County.

However, another colony of desert locusts migrated into northern Kenya from Ethiopia on Wednesday evening.

Reports indicate that the flying pests got into the county via Bute and Gurar areas in Wajir North before settling seven kilometres from Bute town.

Kenya Navy has found itself on a chopping board after reports emerged that it had abandoned stranded fishermen in Indian ocean after their boat capsized.

The eight fishermen who miraculously survived 17 days in the Indian Ocean along the Kenyan coast were spotted and rescued by marine police on patrol on Christmas Day.

“Their boat were taken to the deep waters and capsized by strong winds and they have been in the ocean,” said Malindi Sub County Police Commander Vitalis Otieno who confirmed the incident.

They had been reported missing at Ziwayu beach, on the north coast and were using an Alhafidh Fibre 15HP boat.

Upon their rescue, the eight were rushed to Malindi Sub County Hospital for a medical check-up.

However, the internet has been set ablaze after the victims narrated their ordeal in the sea.

On their 9th day in the sea, they spotted Kenya Navy soldiers who were on patrol.

Stricken by thirst and hunger, they tried to ask for help, but the soldiers ignored them.

They then tried to ask for drinking water and food, a request that was also ignored.

The eight survived on salty sea water and dry fish for 17 days.

The move displayed by Kenya Navy has angered Kenyans who have flocked social media to bash them over failure to rescue stranded Kenyans.

The Navy is now being accused of leaving innocent Kenyans to die in the sea.

Here are some of the reactions.
