Kirinayaga Governor Anne Mumbi Waiguru has threatened to sue Kenyan rapper Kennedy Ombima alias King Kaka over his latest hit song dubbed Wajingi Nyinyi.

According to Waiguru, the song has lines that defame her by labeling her as corrupt and implicating her in NYS scandal.

But is King Kaka the first person to be sued by Waiguru for defamation?

Well, Waiguru will not be doing this for the first time.

History of her sues

On August 27, 2015, Waiguru sued Google to reveal the identity of the owner of a Kenyan blog.

The then Devolution secretary renewed her battle with Internet giant Google, from whom she was seeking compensation for an alleged defamatory story that was published by a Kenyan blogger.

Ms Waiguru filed a fresh suit against California-based Google, its subsidiary Blogger Inc and Kenyan website Daily Post seeking payment for the story, which was published in the wake of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s sacking of the former chairman of the Youth Development Fund, Gor Semelango.

Ms Waiguru had in a separate suit in 2014 sued Google and its Kenyan subsidiary Google Kenya seeking to compel them to reveal owners of the Daily Post website.

On 25th September 2015, Waiguru sued former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for linking her to NYS Scandal.

Waiguru sued Raila over his utterances in two public meetings linking her to the Sh791 million scandal at the National Youth Service (NYS).

On 21 January 2016, She sued former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama for suggesting that she was having a clandestine affair with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

On 31 May 2017, Waiguru sued DCI, Attorney General and EACC for suggesting that a lifestyle audit be carried out on her, over her involvement in the NYS Scandal.

On 22 August 2018, she called on the DCI and EACC to make public names of those behind Josephine Kabura’s affidavit in the first NYS corruption scandal.

The governor, who was Devolution Cabinet secretary when the Sh791 million , maintained that she did not touch a single cent of the loot.

Waiguru also threatened to sue IPSOS for naming her amongst the most corrupt people in Kenya. In a survey done by IPSOS, Waiguru’s name came second after deputy president Dr William Ruto.

King Kaka’s case will be her first defamatory case in 2019 but 6th on her list since she got into politics.

Is Interior Ministry Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i the second most powerful government official after President Uhuru Kenyatta?

Well, his recent official activities have kept Kenyans speculating about the most hyped 2022 succession politics.

On Monday, Dr Matiang’i officiated a passing out parade for 1,224 officers who have completed a standardization course at Kiganjo as part of the reforms agenda for National Police Service.

During the event, Matiang’i inspected the parade, something that the president has been doing over a long period of time, being the commander-in-chief of the armed forces.

Matiang’i has on several occasions been speculated of being prepared by President Kenyatta and his ODM counterpart Raila Odinga for the top most political seat come 2022.

And are these photos revealing anything about that?

Image

Well, early this year, Matiang’i was given powers that raised him to being the most powerful Cabinet Secretary who is in charge of launching government projects and chairing cabinet sittings.

This move was he talk among Kenyans, with many believing that Deputy President Dr William Ruto had been sidelined and left with no powers and duties other than politicking.

The DP is one of the most top 2022 presidential candidates. Are these powers given to Matiang’i sealing Ruto’s 2022 fate?

Well, former statehouse employee who is now based at DP Ruto’s Harambee Annexe office Dennis Itumbi on Monday evening shared one of Matiangi’s photos in a picture tweet that turned out to be a talk among Kenyans.

Many Kenyans while reacting on the photos believed that Matiang’i is the newly coronated King.

Some argued that Matiang’i is the incoming President after the end of President Kenyatta’s term in 2022 basing on the role he played during the pass out parade in Kiganjo.

Here are some of the reactions.

Nairobi County governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko seems to have turned to God over his troubles but Kenyans on Twitter are picking fan out of it.

In a video doing rounds on social media, the Nairobi county chief who has been hence barred from accessing his office over a graft case facing him is seen committing his life to Christ.

Sonko is seen singing along a praise and worship song as tears flow down his chicks.

The song seems to be his only source of hope as it says ” I know my savior is alive”.

“Najuaa.. Mkombozi wangu, anaishii…,” sings Sonko.

Kenyans are however hilariously reacting to the video, with some arguing that the governor flew to close to the sun with feathers fixed with wax.

Sonko on Thursday issued a statement via his social media platforms a day after he was released on bail.

The governor admitted that the past few days had been difficult for him but thanked his family for standing with him.

“The last few days have been a bit difficult. However, I would like to thank my family, friends well-wishers and all of you the great people of Nairobi for standing with me.

“I am home now and continuing with my treatment after posting bail through the assistance of my supporters, friends and family,” he said.

Sonko was on Tuesday taken to the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) after reportedly falling ill at the Kamiti Maximum Prison where he was remanded.

His defence team argued before Anti-Corruption Court Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti that the governor was sick and required medical attention after being roughed up by security personnel who arrested him in Voi last week.

Mzee Jackson Kibor, the founder and CEO of the famous Men’s Conference has torn into Trade and Industrialization Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya over his Friday tweet that seemed to have been directed at Deputy President Dr William Ruto.

Munya on Friday afternoon was in a bitter exchange with Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah over the fate of farmers who are decrying the price of milk.

Ichung’wah who had commented on a story ran by Daily Nation about the farmers pouring their milk over poor price and inaccessibility to the market was tackled harshly by Munya who termed him as a rent seeker.

Munya accused the MP of rent seeking and speaking on behalf of Deputy President William Ruto.

The tweet, which the CS later deleted, hit out at Ichung’wah over his criticism of the dairy sector.

But a seemingly angry Mzee Kibor has blasted Munya, arguing that he was coming too close to a red hot iron.

Kibor argues that Sugoi is not a place Munya can just mention in vain.

He has cautioned Munya to watch his mouth before altering words.

“Peter Munya, or whatever you call yourself, you’re coming too close to a red hot iron. Take this pill and sleep, Sugoi is not a place you mention in vain. Though I know your mouth is never closed. Watch your mouth or watch with your mouth,” tweeted Mzee Kibor.

Senate Speaker Keneth Lusaka has dismissed a petition by Nairobi County Senator Johnson Sakaja seeking to an emergency meeting with him over governor Mike Sonko’s troubles.

Lusaka while dismissing Sakaja’s petition said that the Super senator has no powers as per law to call for an emergency meeting with him.

Sakaja was seeking a special sitting with the senate to discuss Nairobi’s situation after governor Sonko being barred by the court to access his office.

Sakaja wrote to  Lusaka requesting him to urgently call for a special sitting of the senate to discuss the exceptional leadership situation in Nairobi.

Sakaja’s request is informed by the stringent bail terms given to Sonko that include not accessing his city hall office for the entire time of his trial.

In the letter, Sajaka says, quote, “ seeing that Nairobi does not have a deputy governor as is the case of Kimabu county where a similar direction has been given, serious concerns and questions have arisen as to how the county will be run in the interim period.”

Samburu County governor Moses Lenolkulal has been dealt a blow as Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji demands for cancellation of his bond.

This is after the governor allegedly flouted the bond terms repeatedly.

The DPP said that the governor violated bail terms issued on April 2 by the Anti-Corruption court.

In a landmark ruling, Justice Mumbi Ngugi ruled that governors with graft cases should not be allowed to access their offices, unless they get written permission from the EACC.

Lenolkulal reshuffled his Cabinet, going against bail conditions.

Through prosecution counsel Wesley Nyamache, Haji wants the court to address the matter urgently and punish the governor.

Governor Lenolkulal is accused of irregularly obtaining Ksh.84.7 million by supplying fuel to the Samburu County Government through his fuel company, Oryx Service Station, between March 27, 2013 and March 25, 2019.

He was arrested early April by EACC officers.

He was released on bond but was prohibited from selling, charging, leasing, developing and transferring a parcel of land situated in Karen, Nairobi pending the hearing and determination of a case filed against him by the anti-corruption commission.

The governor was also barred from dealing with funds contained in two accounts held at KCB Bank.

In the suit, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) sought recovery of over Ksh.80 million from the governor as proceeds of corruption and for forfeiture of the parcels of land acquired with the proceeds of corrupt conduct.

It is now no secret! Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba Murkomen has been facing embarrassment in public not less than once.

Just a few weeks ago, we show the majority leader being heckled at Bomas of Kenya in from of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy dr William Ruto as he tried to complain on the way Suna East MP Hon Junet Mohammed was running the BBI report launch program.

On Wednesday 11 December, 2019, chief magistrate Douglas Ogoti did it again as he schooled Murkomen in court during the bail ruling of Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko whom Murkomen was representing.

Murkomen indeed had a hard time to explain why he had brought sick Sonko in the court.

And just a day after that embarrassment from Ogoti, Prresident Kenyatta did it himself by condemning those professionals in public service representing private sector, terming it conflict of interest.

The head of state ordered the Attorney General to come up with a bill that will help solve the conflict of interest from public servants.

Just few minutes after presidents order, ODM party Secretary General Edwin Sifuna was at Murkomen’s neck again, blasting him for what he claimed as Murkomen having broken the law profession.

Sifuna’s comment came after a twitter user complained that Siaya Senator James Orengo has been appearing in courts but no issue had been raised. But Sifuna believes that the “level of ignorance of the law displayed by Murkomen and his Makueni counterpart Mutula Kilonzo Jr” that has caused all these problems.

“It is the shocking level of ignorance of the law displayed by those two characters that has caused all these problems. @orengo_james has never brought such anxiety with his appearances. He largely goes to court to teach the law. Murkomen broke the profession,” Sifuna posted.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday talked tough against professionals in public service in what looked like a direct attack on Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumb Murkomen and his Makueni counterpart Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior.

Speaking a day after the duo represented Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko in a graft case, the head of state wants all professionals in public service to forego private practice.

The president during 56th Jamhuri day celebrations at Nyayo stadium ordered Attorney General (AG) Paul Kihara Kariuki to have the Conflict of Interest Bill forwarded to National Assembly in what appears to be a response to Murkomen and Kilonzo Jnr representing Mike Sonko at Milimani Law Courts.

“You either serve the public in the role you signed up for or you serve the republic as a private practitioner. It is a profound conflict of interest to do both,” said President Kenyatta.

Siaya Senator James Orengo has also represented various graft convicts in court, including governors such as Migori’s Okoth Obado.

Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo and Makueni’s Dan Maanzo have also been in courts representing various people in different cases.
