A postmortem report released on Saturday, November 23, has revealed how The Star correspondent in Siaya County Eric Oloo was killed.

According to the report, Oloo was hit by a blunt object in the head and abdomen, resulting in excess internal bleeding that led to his death.

Pathologist Gabriel Juma shared the report details with the media.

Oloo’s body was on Thursday morning (November 21) found dead in the house of his alleged lover, Sabina Kerubo, 36, a deputy OCS at Ugunja Police Station.

It is alleged that Oloo, 41, found other men in Sabina’s house on Wednesday night, resulting in the fatal confrontation.

Ugunja Sub-County Police Commander, Ibrahim Muchuma, on Thursday told journalists that Kerubo was arrested alongside her daughter, house-help, and a middle-aged man identified only as Victor, who is said to be a chef in Ugunja Town.

Muchuma revealed that Kerubo’s landlord, Moses Ochieng, reported at Ugunja Police Station that Kerubo had — on Wednesday night — gone to his house to request for his vehicle so that she could take her “ailing” husband to hospital.

The landlord said that upon reaching Kerubo’s house, he saw Oloo lying lifeless on the floor, with cut injuries in his head.

Ochieng, thereafter, alerted police, who arrived at the scene of crime and arrested Kerubo, her daughter, house-help and the said-Ugunja Town chief, Victor.

Estranged wife to The Star Newspaper reporter Eric Oloo who was found murdered in a police woman’s house on Thursday, November 21 in a case of a love triangle gone wrong has narrated her last phone chat with the slain journalist.

Oloo, was said to be married to Ugunja Police Station Deputy OCS Sabina Kerubo with reports that the two were living together as husband and wife for a period of time.

New details have emerged however, indicating that the slain journalist had a wife and children, with their last conversation hinting that they were to get back together.

Lucy Atieno, aged 23 years narrated that the two had gone their separate ways in 2017, after meeting in 2016 and living together for one year.

Currently, she has been left with an 11 day old baby after having delivered just a week ago, and a daughter aged two years.

According to Ms Otieno, she had moved to her parent’s home after separating from estranged husband but later reunited earlier in the year where she got pregnant with their second daughter.

Apparently, Oloo went mute after the news of the second pregnancy and only decided to call her last month, wanting to speak to their daughter and hinting on getting back together as a family, next year.

“He inquired what we had fed on and told me that he had shopped for our daughter’s Christmas, promising to have a boda boda operator drop the gifts the next morning,” said Ms Otieno.

She added that when she heard of Oloo’s death, she was shocked, dropped her child and rushed outside wailing as she could not believe the news.

A new Survey has found that most farmers use local brew busaa to treat Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) among animals.

The highly communicable viral disease attack hooved animals such as cattle, sheep, goats, pigs as well wild animals such as buffaloes.

The survey was conducted by the Nakuru Regional Veterinary Investigation Laboratory (RVIL) in collaboration with the county veterinary staff.

According to the survey, a majority of the farmers whose animals were affected by the disease drenched them with local brew (busaa) as the treatment of choice.

Busaa is about 4 per cent alcohol, a concentration which is very mild as compared to surgical spirit, which is 70 per cent alcohol, so its medical value in killing the FMD virus is questionable.

The brew normally makes the animal drunk, thus reducing the pain in the foot and mouth wounds. The animal is therefore able to feed, thus boosting its immunity and recovery, but farmers should seek proper treatment.

A word of caution, however, is that the brew is stable for one to two days after production. Thereafter, acidification and denaturing take place, making the substance toxic.

Some farmers buy busaa that lasts for over five days, which implies that they could be poisoning the animals unintentionally and this explains the deaths that were occurring in adults, a rare condition as FMD is known to kill mostly young animals.

Pope Francis has urged respect for prostitutes and trafficking victims in a part of the world where sex work is rampant.

The Pope on Thursday led an impassioned mass for tens of thousands of emotional worshippers at a packed Bangkok stadium.

The remarks came at the end of a whirlwind day of meetings for Pope Francis, who is on his first trip to Buddhist-majority Thailand where he is carrying a message of religious harmony and peace.

He heads to Japan next, visiting the twin atomic bombs sites of Nagasaki and Hiroshima where he will seek a ban on “immoral” nuclear weapons.

The 82-year-old arrived at the stadium in a golden robe woven for him from Thai silk, greeting crowds of flag-waving faithful, some wiping tears from their faces at the sight of the leader of the world’s 1.3 billion Catholics.

An estimated 60,000 worshippers gathered for the mass, some pouring into a nearby stadium to watch the hymn-filled service on large screens.

Known for his down-to-earth style, the Pope did not shy away from difficult topics at the mass.

He focused his message on helping vulnerable children and women “who are victims of prostitution and human trafficking, humiliated in their essential human dignity”.

He also referred to drug addicts, migrants and “exploited sinners and bypassed beggars”.

“All of them are part of our family. They are our mothers, our brothers and sisters. Let us not deprive our communities of seeing their faces, their wounds, their smiles and their lives,” said the Pope, after leading prayers.

The remarks were delivered in a region infamous for a thriving sex trade and unchecked human trafficking.

Nairobi Senator Jonhson Sakaja has once again teared into Governor Mike Sonko over the state of affairs in the county.

On Thursday, during a live press conference, Sakaja alluded that the state of the Capital city was wanting, adding that the governor was involved in theatrics of fighting cartels yet the city was drowning in corruption and mismanagement.

He also stated that governor Sonko was ruling the county with impunity and demanded for accountability of billions of shillings tax payers’ money.

“The people are being treated to all manner of shadow boxing, dramatization ‘vipindiree‘ in the name of fighting cartels. Nairobians are demanding accountability of the billions of shillings that have been allocated to Nairobi annually,” he said.

Sakaja was accompanied by other legislators from different parties, who made it clear that Nairobi’s Growth Development Profit (GDP) contributes 60 percent in the economy hence the need to shun impunity and make progressive development.

Blood samples from khaki shorts said to belong to Joseph Irungu alias Jowie matched that of slain Monica Kimani’s blood.

Government analyst Joseph Kagunda Kimani on Tuesday told the court there was a small blood stain on Jowie’s brown shorts taken from his house by the police to the Government Chemist for analysis.

Kagunda was testifying in the case where Jowie has been charged alongside his ex-fiancée Jacque Maribe with the murder of Monica.

The report lists 73 items that were tested during the investigations in to the murder of Monica, which happened on September 19, 2018 in her apartment at Lamuria Gardens in Kilimani.

The Government Chemist was tasked to analyse items derived from Monica’s apartment, Maribe’s residence where Jowie was living, and her car for criminal investigations.

The items were received from the Government Chemist from September 25 and October 5, 9 and 24 last year.

They include a black leather belt, black hair band, maroon pillow, pair of navy blue sandals, a pair of black sports shoes, Heineken green empty beer bottle, swabs on sterile swab stick from rear left seat of car KCA 031E among other items.

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) side Sony Sugar have been relegated after they failed to honour their third Kenyan Premier League match this season, a mid week tie against Zoo in Kericho.

The sugar millers who won the local title in 2006 have been experiencing financial challenges that saw them give away matches against AFC Leopards and Tusker, before a late arrival in Kericho for today’s match against Zoo confirmed their worst fears.

According to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) rules, if a team fails to honour three matches its automatically relegated to the National Super League.

“Sony failed to honour their match against Zoo today. They arrived late for the match when the match officials had already given a walk over to the home team,” said KPL Chief Executive Officer Jack Oguda.

He added: “Though it’s a sad thing to see a team being relegated in this manner, the rules are clear. So they have 48 hours to explain what happened to the competition’s committee who will then make the final decision.”

Yesterday, the visitors arrived at the match venue, Kericho Green Stadium at 4.10pm after a two hours road trip from Awendo for a match that was to kick-off at 3pm.

According to the league’s rule 4. 1.7, a club failing to turn up for any league or competition match shall submit a written explanation to the FKF Leagues and Competition within 48-hours from the date of the match.

The 31-year-old woman who was allegedly killed by her estranged Kenya Air Force husband was hit with a blunt object while her two children were strangled using a rope, Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor has revealed.

Addressing the media at Nanyuki Teaching and Referral hospital mortuary after conducting a postmortem on their bodies, Oduor said Joyce Syombua was bleeding from the brain.

He, however, said since the bodies of Syombua, Shanice Maua, 10, and Prince Michael, 5, had decomposed, it was difficult to tell when they were exactly killed.

The pathologist said DNA samples have been taken from the bodies for further tests, an exercise that would take one week.

He also indicated that other samples would be taken from the bodies for toxicological tests to identify whether the bodies had been poisoned before they were killed, something that could not be established during Wednesday’s exercise.

That exercise, he said, will take about three months and will inform the identification of the bodies.

Family members of the deceased family, who included Syombua’s mother, Elizabeth Maua, were at the morgue to identify the bodies, with the pathologist saying they presumptively positively identified them.

The family members did not , however, speak to the media after the exercise.

The pathologist indicated that the bodies would be released to the family for burial once the DNA tests are done and results released.

It took over 10 pathologists over five hours to do the postmortem.

The three bodies were exhumed from a shallow grave at Makaburini area in Nanyuki town on Saturday and taken to Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.

Syombua’s estranged husband, Major Peter Mugure Mwaura and another suspect, Collins Pamba, are in police custody and they will know whether they will be charged with murder on December 9.

Kenyan dancehall producer and beat maker Magix Enga has finally won the war that ensued between him and Tanzanian star Harmonize over a beat he claimed Harmonize stole from him.

Harmonize’s recent hit ‘Uno’ has finally been pulled down from You Tube.

According to the Kenyan producer, Harmonize used a beat he created for the famous club banger, ‘Dundaing’ where he featured King Kaka and Kristoff.

The music producer who launched his studio worth approximately Sh5 million about four months ago, took to his Instagram account and shared a video of him singing with the Uno beats but with ‘Dundaing’ lyrics.

“Harmonize nakuona sana bro. Dundaing Refix King Kaka, Kristoffmwb. 4million views on YouTube,” he wrote.

Taking to Instagram, Magix told Harmonize to take down the song within a week or face unspecified consequences.

“Like nothing happened @harmonize_tz Gat some free beats for you bro… I’m giving you 1 week take down the song otherwise… Natoa mwenye let me put it in Swahili so that you can understand what I’m trying to say,” he wrote.

Insisting that it took him a day to come up with the ‘stolen’ beat, Magix insisted that he is not letting Harmonize off the hook.

“It took me a day to come up with the Vibe G you get. #BeatKing254 ? This s** has happened before but this time things will be different… I’m not going to allow that to happen not in 254,” he continued.
