State House digital strategist Dennis Itumbi forwarded fabricated letter alleging there was a plot to kill DP William Ruto to a WhatsApp group called Tangatanga, a witness has told the Court.

Noah Keino, a clerk at the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI), told the Milimani Court on Wednesday that Itumbi posted the said-letter in late May 2019, but he [Keino] is not sure whether it was Itumbi who authored the letter.

Keino said he had seen the letter posted in three other WhatsApp groups, and, therefore, he couldn’t say with certainty that Itumbi was the source of the alarming message.

Keino, who is an administrator of the Tangatanga WhatsApp group, said the network was created for Ruto supporters to exchange ideas on how they can boost his 2022 presidential bid.

Itumbi is accused alongside one-Samuel Gateri of authoring and circulating an alarming letter that alleged that there was a plan to assassinate DP Ruto in order to stop him from ascending to presidency in 2022.

The two were, on July 22, 2019, charged with publishing a letter dated May 30, 2019 with the aim of causing anxiety to the general public. They denied the charges.

Kenyan rapper Jackson Makini, alias CMB Prezzo, has refuted reports published in a section of Ugandan and Tanzanian media that he is receiving treatment at the Karen Hospital after he was recently sexually assaulted by three women in Nairobi.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with K24 Digital, Prezzo denied the allegations, citing that a section of media in East Africa have been bent on tarnishing his name since 2004 and that it is time he has to take action against them.

“I do not know where the false allegations have come from. I am well, and currently at home. From my tone in this call, you can tell on your end that everything is okay with me. (Laughs). I will ensure I dig deep into these claims so that I find out who started peddling the falsehoods. Sections of the media in East Africa have been bent on tarnishing my name since 2004. It is time I take action against them,” he said.

The reports first appeared on Uganda’s gossip tabloid xclusive.co.ug on Tuesday evening and carried afresh on Tanzania’s The Citizen on Wednesday, November 13.

The Citizen says the Mafans rapper, 39, was injected with an overdose of cocaine and Viagra before being sexually abused by three youthful women.

The publication cited “sources” as saying that the women, identified as Ruth, Vivian and Patricia, were arrested, and are being detained at Karen Police Station in Nairobi.

Just a month after South African divers in conjunction with the Kenyan Navy retrieved the bodies of Amanda Mutheu and her mother Mariam Kigenda, who drowned in their car after it slid off the ferry, another tragedy similar to that almost occurred on Monday.

A Kenyatta University bus almost sank into Indian Ocean after it slid off the ferry ramp into the shallow waters.

According to eye witnesses, passengers and the driver were still in the bus, despite there being a rule that forbids passengers from remaining inside their vehicles while crossing the ferry.

No casualties were reported.

The Kenya Ferry Service is yet to issue a statement.

Just a day after Deputy President Dr William Ruto cancelling his anticipated fundraising tour in Murang’a County, residents were on Sunday left in shock when Prrsident Uhuru Kenyatta failed to show up.

Instead, the head of state send some cabinet secretaries to represent him.

According to Murang’a senator Irungu Kang’ata, the divisive politics among Murang’a leaders are to blame for cancellation of the tours by the two leaders.

Speaking on Monday morning on Inooro TV, Mr Kang’ata said the meetings were planned separately.

According to Mr Kang’ata, the plan for President Kenyatta to visit Murang’a County was hatched in May when the senator, alongside other leaders, went to receive a school bus at State House.

“The bishop was among those who had accompanied me and we had a chat with the President and this is when we invited him for the service,” he said.

But despite having that agreement, they had not been given official communication to confirm the President’s visit, the Murang’a senator said.

“His coming was confirmed on Thursday but unfortunately this also changed at the last minute,” said Mr Kang’ata.

Kang’ata said the President did not deliberately avoid visiting Murang’a, but had official duties to attend to.

But the senator could not explain why Mr Kenyatta has been cancelling his tours into the area that is perceived to be his stronghold.

He denied claims that the President was losing touch with people in Mt Kenya region, adding that there is so much that the government has done for the locals.

“All is not lost, I am sure the President will be coming soon. I am just urging the people to exercise patience,” he said.

In regard to DP Ruto’s visit, Kang’ata claimed that the team organizing his tour had also not informed local leaders.

By coincidence, the two leaders had their visits planned on the same day in neighboring constituencies.

The cancellation of the visit by the two has also angered the locals, who are now blaming their leaders over their divisive politics.

Clear lines have been drawn between the leaders who support Mr Kenyatta, Kieleweke and Tanga Tanga camps.

The former Harambee Stars legend wished his supporters well.

He however had one message to all Kenyan citizens, urging them to always maintain peace regardless of their political affiliations.

Chaos reigned in Nairobi County Assembly on Monday morning as the MCAs fought over the occupation of the Majority leader’s office following changes announced by Speaker Beatrice Elachi last week.

Last Thursday, Elachi said in a letter to the party Jubilee MCAs had in a meeting held in Mombasa resolved to change the leadership in the assembly.

The letter indicated that changes were sought by Governor Mike Sonko good working relations with the assembly.

Nominated MCA June Ndegwa was to replace Chief Whip Chege Waithera (South B) deputised by California’s Hassan Abdikadi.

Majority leader Abdi Guyo was to be replaced by Dandora 3 MCA Charles Thuo who was to be deputised by Ziwani’s Millicent Wambui in place of James Kariba (Riruta).

The proposed changes were opposed as unconstitutional by the MCAs.

Monday’s fracas started in the Majority leader’s office at 9am as MCAs from both sides jostled to be in the office and MCA Mary Njambi popularly known as MCA Mafirifiri was at it again with another new term.

“…..mabinduki ndio zilikua zinafanya kazi, pupupuuu….” the MCA left her colleagues in stitches as she narrated the fracas.

The door to the Majority leader’s office was brought down and tear gas was lobbed in the office.

The MCAs and the assembly staff fled to the washrooms to douse their faces.

The chaos attracted the attention of police officers who were on the premises to keep order during the registration of the delegates for the ICPD 25  Nairobi Summit which starts on Tuesday.

Central Police Station Criminal Investigations Officer Samuel Kobina intervened and ordered all MCAs to leave the assembly three hours later.

Guyo said the assembly was too chaotic and asked the national government to dissolve it.

“I’m requesting the party to call for a caucus to solve this issue once and for all. The members’ concerns should be addressed and those who want to vote me out can follow the law and if defeated, I will support who whoever will be chosen by members,” he said.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party communication boss Philip Etale has fired his response to Deputy President Dr William Ruto following his demand for an apology from ODM party leader Raila Odinga and his party.

Ruto on Saturday demanded an apology following chaos which occurred during the just concluded Kibra parliamentary by-election.

The DP accused ODM of being behind the violence witnessed on Thursday and asked Raila to come out and apologise to all those who were attacked.

“As Kenyans we demand that Tinga/his party unconditionally, unequivocally and publicly renounce the culture of violence, chaos, terror and gangsterism their signature modus operandi as witnessed in Kibra and unreservedly apologise to victims past and present for their hurt and loss,” tweeted the DP.

On Sunday, Ruto said that President Uhuru Kenyatta with him had decided that post election violence that had become synonymous with elections since 1992 MUST come to an END and it did, urging Raila to “bring Odm’s primitive & retrogresive signature culture of violence/ chaos to an END& disband baba’s militia to show their commitment to handshake”.

“President Kenyatta & I decided that PEV that had become synonymous with elections since 1992 MUST come to an END and it did.Tinga MUST bring Odm’s primitive & retrogresive signature culture of violence/ chaos to an END& disband baba’s militia to show their commitment to handshake,” Ruto tweeted.

While responding to Ruto’s demand on Sunday, Etale reminded the DP of the 2007 post election violence.

The ODM director of communications said that the families and relatives of the victims of the KIAMBAA Tragedy in Eldoret are still waiting for a public apology from Ruto.

He notes that the hearts of the victims will only relax after receiving a public apology from Ruto.

“DP Ruto, on demanding for APOLOGY from the @TheODMparty Leadership, I want to remind you that the families and relatives of the victims of the KIAMBAA Tragedy in Eldoret are still waiting for a public apology from you. Their hearts will only relax after receiving that APOLOGY,” tweeted Etale.

Deputy President Dr William Ruto’s demand for an apology from ODM party leader Raila Odinga seems to have gone wrong.

A section of leaders from Central Kenya have blasted the DP after he demanded for an apology from Raila , following chaos which occurred during the just concluded Kibra parliamentary by-election.

Taking to social media on Saturday, the DP accused ODM of being behind the violence witnessed on Thursday and asked Raila to come out and apologise to all those who were attacked.

“As Kenyans we demand that Tinga/his party unconditionally, unequivocally and publicly renounce the culture of violence, chaos, terror and gangsterism their signature modus operandi as witnessed in Kibra and unreservedly apologise to victims past and present for their hurt and loss,” Ruto tweeted.

The sentiments, however, did not go well with some leaders from Central Kenya who hit back at the DP saying he is the one who should apologise.

Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu revisited the 2007 post-election violence in the Rift Valley, saying Ruto should ask for forgiveness over the killing and displacement of people which occurred in his political backyard.

“You most probably want to apologise for PEV in Rift Valley in 2007, before you point fingers at others, Sir,” he posted on facebook.

On his part, former Mukurwe-ini MP Kabando Wa Kabando said Ruto should apologise to President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila for allegedly insulting them.

“Mr Deputy President, Sir: apologize unreservedly for your rants, insults, arrogance, divisiveness, disdain for your boss our President and fear of Agwambo (Raila). Vice Presidents (VPs) Jaramogi, Murumbi, Moi, Kibaki, Karanja, Saitoti, Mudavadi, Wamalwa, Awori, Kalonzo never stooped this low. Terrible. Sad,”Kabando said.

Deputy President William Ruto has reportedly cancelled a planned trip to Murang’a today (Sunday).

According to reports by Sunday Nation, the DP cancelled the trip to avoid a clash of itinerary with the President’s tour.

The two leaders were today expected to attend separate events within the same county.

Earlier Saturday, some of his handlers had indicated that he would visit the region but he would skip the church service-cum fundraiser he was scheduled to attend in Kandara and join President Uhuru Kenyatta at ACK Kenol.

However, according to the local daily, Ruto’s spokesman David Mugonyi later said that the DP had decided to shelve the visit altogether.

“The answer as to whether the Deputy President will be visiting Murang’a is ‘no’, nothing more,” Mr Mugonyi said curtly when contacted.

Another close aide of the DP said that he had not been aware that the President would be touring the area around the time he was scheduled to attend the fundraiser.

“We would not want to be seen as subjecting the two to supremacy contests of sorts,” he said.

Sunday Nation reports that Ruto’s change of plan was informed by a policy he adopted not to appear to antagonise the President in his backyard, a constituency upon which he hopes to ride to State House in the next General Election.

The DP is betting big on the central Kenya support to boost his presidential bid and has attended dozens of functions there since 2013.

Reports of the parallel visits elicited mixed reactions about the working relationship of the country’s top leadership at a time when speculation is rife that the marriage is on the rocks.

Just a few months ago, Garissa women representative Hon Anab Subow Gure caused a stir on the internet when she vowed to name her unborn child after Deputy President Dr William Ruto.

The daring heavily pregnant lawmaker has once again stirred up the internet after a video of her hurling insults at ODM party leader Raila Odinga and his allies started doing rounds on social media.

In the video, Hon Subow starts by attacking Dagoreti North MP Simba Arati following the recent incident in Kibra where he allegedly meted violence on Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa.

Subow in the video says Simba Arati is satan.

“Simba Arati yeye ni shetani,” the MP is heard saying.

She then turns her focus on Suna East MP Hon Junet Mohamed, saying that he is a somali who has adopted Luo blood and culture.

She says Junet knows very well that it is against the somali culture for a man to assault a woman, an incident she says Junet has entertained, calling him ‘shetani’ as well.

The women rep then turns her focus on Raila, hurling all kind of insults at him.

“Kuna mzee anaitwa baba, sijui yeye ni baba ya nani. Mzee mzima na hata hajatairi. Tunataka 2022 aende Bondo, atairishwe, azeeke Bondo na akufie huko. Shetani yeye,” she is heard saying.

This has triggered reactions on social media, with a section of Kenyans condemning the MP’s utterances.

Kimilili constituency Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has invited applications for recruitment of 500 persons to join team ahead of 2022 political battle.

The pro-Ruto MP says that the recruitment bases on Directorate of Criminal Investigations’ silence over the violence meted against him by Dagoreti North MP Simba Arati on Thursday during Kibra constituency mini polls.

During the recruitment, the lawmaker says persons with certificate of good conduct will be disqualified and that Training commences immediately.

He further notes that an attractive commission and retainer will be offered to successful applicants.

“Its on this basis that I invite applications for recruitment of 500 persons to join my team, those with certificate of good conduct will be disqualified. Training commences imediately. An attractive commission and retainer will be offered to successful applicants,” reads Barasa’s post.

On Saturday, Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria urged Kenyans to build their “own goons battalions ahead of 2022” if violence witnessed in Kibra during the just concluded mini polls is anything to go by.

Kuria who took to social media to condemn the violence meted upon some Jubilee party politicians during the Thursday by elections expressed is shock in how Kenyans are making fun of the incidents.

While noting that he was not supporting Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga in the Kibra parliamentary race,Kuria said that Kenyans should give everyone a chance to campaign freely anywhere.

He noted that the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga was meant to resolve issues such as electoral violence.

He has further noted that the incident in which Simba Arati ordered goons to beat Kimilili MP Didimus Baraza infront of cameras is despicable.

According to the controversial MP, “Since Fred Matiangi and the security system has said nothing about this, I presume it’s fair game and we should all depend on goons not on the police”.

He says the fact that the incidents happened in the handshake bedroom speaks volumes about the “Building Batallions Initiative”, a term he has used to mock the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

He finishes his post by urging Kenyans to build their own goons battalions ahead of 2022 political period.

“I am still in shock that Kenyans are making fun of the violence meted upon Boni Khalwale and Didimus Baraza in Kibra. It is public knowledge that I was NOT supporting McDonald Mariga but we should give everyone a chance to campaign freely anywhere. The handshake was meant to resolve issues such as electoral violence. Simba Arati ordering goons to beat Didimus Baraza infront of cameras is despicable. Political analyst Herman Manyora has questioned Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli over his prophecies, all of whom he believes have come to pass.

The latest was about Imran Okoth’s win in the Kibra poll, which he made about a fortnight ago, during an interview on Citizen TV’s JKL Show.

In the prediction, he said that Imran, of the ODM party, will have won by 10 am, beating among others, McDonald Mariga of the Jubilee Party.

Manyora now says that this should serve as a warning to Deputy President William Ruto, considering that Atwoli has since prophesied that he will never be president.

This comes at a time when the DP is warming up for the 2022 general elections, and Manyora is of the view that he should bail himself out.

Speaking on Saturday, he pointed out that given that all of his other prophesies have materialized, including the President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga truce, the DP should consider having the prophecy on his bid undone.

“For William Samoei Ruto, Atwoli says you will never be President. Look for him ameze hiyo mate (so that he can swallow that saliva),” he advised, on his “Take It or Leave It” political analysis you tube channel.

He also cautioned the trade unionist against going around cursing people, stressing on the need for him to be very careful with what he says to avoid doing bad to others.

“This Atwoli and his prophesies; he talked of the handshake and it came. Atwoli with your prophesies and curses be careful. You said Echesa (former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa) will be sacked and he was sacked. Kwani wewe Atwoli uko namna gani (how were you made?),” he added.

Atwoli has also said that the DP will not only not be the president, but will not even be in the presidential ballot, and has also claimed that there will be a referendum before 2022.

According to him, President Uhuru Kenyatta will stay in power post-2022.
