Nairobi County Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko is expected in court today (Wednesday) to answer to assault charges.

Sonko will appear in a Voi Court to face three counts among them resisting police arrest and disorderly conduct.

He is accused of battling police officers when he was arrested at a Voi road block on December 6.

In the Voi case, police said they have served court summons to the governor to appear in court on Wednesday to answer charges of assaulting Coast Regional Police Commander Rashid Yakub by kicking him on the thigh and insulting others during his dramatic arrest.

The governor is accused of being unruly, abusive and violent in an attempt to resist arrest thereby obstructing police officers from the lawful execution of their duties.

The embattled governor was last week charged with several counts of graft and released on a cash bail of Ksh.15 million bail but blocked from accessing his office, this setting off a chain reaction within Nairobi County which remains without a leader.

A planned impeachment motion against the governor has been shelved with both the governor and the Nairobi MCAs awaiting a ruling on Friday that will determine whether Sonko can be allowed back in office.

Flamboyant city lawyer Donald Kipkorir has torn into Kenyan rapper Kennedy Ombima alias King Kaka over his recent controversial hit song dubbed Wajinga Nyinyi.

Donald Kipkorir while commenting on the song attacked King Kaka for what he argues as disrespecting Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru.

Waiguru on Monday threatened to sue King Kaka over defamation.

In the song, the rapper mentions Waiguru in NYS scandals, which the Kirinyaga governor has termed as defamation.

But Kipkorir while defending Waiguru argued that King Kaka may mislead few, but Kenya is not the town of Hameli .

He went ahead to attack his business, saying that the rapper calls himself “King” and calls his kiosk business “Empire” .

“Let the record show that I stand with Anne Waiguru … I can’t be excited by one who calls himself “King” & calls his kiosk business “”Empire” … I know mental issues abound but we are all not mad …. He may mislead few, but Kenya is not the town of Hameli,”he tweeted.

King Kaka on Tuesday presented himself at DCI headquarters along Kiambu road after he alleged that he had been summoned by a CID officer.

DCI however denied having summoned the rapper, warning that no one should seek publicity by using their name.

The Dudaing hit maker later exposed the number that had called him and was advised to report the person to Muthaiga Police Station.

Rapper Kennedy Ombima alias King Kaka has reported the individual who summoned him to DCI headquarters.

King Kaka on Tuesday said that he had been summoned by a CID officer and was to report at DCI headquarters by 12 noon, only for DCI to deny the claims via a tweet.

However, the rapper went on to expose the number that had called him.

The officer had allegedly asked him to report to room 304 upon getting to the DCI headquarters.

“So what happened my manager was called at 10:41am, wakampigia na wakasema its either you come to us and we know where you are. So come to us inamaanisha ni hapa, so kufika hapa tunaambiwa that the number and the guy do not exist,” said the father of three.

He was advised to report the person at Muthaiga police station.

In a tweet shared by activist Boniface Mwangi, the Wajinga Nyinyi crooner has reported the matter at Muthaiga Police Station under OB No 42/17/12/19.

“The @DCI_Kenya instructed @RabbitTheKing to report the person that summoned him at Muthaiga Police Station. He has reported and @NPSOfficial_KE @PoliceKE have promised to investigate whoever called and summoned him. He has been issued with Occurence Book (OB) number 42/17/12/19,” Mwangi tweeted.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has blasted The Standard newspaper over a controversial headline that dragged ODM into Uhuru Kenyatta-led Jubilee party problems.

The newspaper on Tuesday ran a story titled ” The Wars in Uhuru and Raila parties”.

Sifuna says the story under the titled is all about Jubilee but ODM were lumped together.

He says he read the story keenly looking to see who was fighting who in ODM and over what, but the writer of the story did not say.

Sifuna is now accusing the Mombasa road-based media house of misunderstanding balance when it comes to news.

He says that the media house understands balance as including everyone in their stories.

@StandardKenya understands balance to mean including everyone in their stories. This story is about Jubilee…but it had to “balance” so we were lumped together. I read looking to see who was fighting who in ODM and over what…the writer Moses Nyamori doesn’t say. Takataka tu,” he tweeted.

Kirinayaga Governor Anne Mumbi Waiguru has threatened to sue Kenyan rapper Kennedy Ombima alias King Kaka over his latest hit song dubbed Wajingi Nyinyi.

According to Waiguru, the song has lines that defame her by labeling her as corrupt and implicating her in NYS scandal.

But is King Kaka the first person to be sued by Waiguru for defamation?

Well, Waiguru will not be doing this for the first time.

History of her sues

On August 27, 2015, Waiguru sued Google to reveal the identity of the owner of a Kenyan blog.

The then Devolution secretary renewed her battle with Internet giant Google, from whom she was seeking compensation for an alleged defamatory story that was published by a Kenyan blogger.

Ms Waiguru filed a fresh suit against California-based Google, its subsidiary Blogger Inc and Kenyan website Daily Post seeking payment for the story, which was published in the wake of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s sacking of the former chairman of the Youth Development Fund, Gor Semelango.

Ms Waiguru had in a separate suit in 2014 sued Google and its Kenyan subsidiary Google Kenya seeking to compel them to reveal owners of the Daily Post website.

On 25th September 2015, Waiguru sued former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for linking her to NYS Scandal.

Waiguru sued Raila over his utterances in two public meetings linking her to the Sh791 million scandal at the National Youth Service (NYS).

On 21 January 2016, She sued former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama for suggesting that she was having a clandestine affair with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

On 31 May 2017, Waiguru sued DCI, Attorney General and EACC for suggesting that a lifestyle audit be carried out on her, over her involvement in the NYS Scandal.

On 22 August 2018, she called on the DCI and EACC to make public names of those behind Josephine Kabura’s affidavit in the first NYS corruption scandal.

The governor, who was Devolution Cabinet secretary when the Sh791 million , maintained that she did not touch a single cent of the loot.

Waiguru also threatened to sue IPSOS for naming her amongst the most corrupt people in Kenya. In a survey done by IPSOS, Waiguru’s name came second after deputy president Dr William Ruto.

King Kaka’s case will be her first defamatory case in 2019 but 6th on her list since she got into politics.

Is Interior Ministry Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i the second most powerful government official after President Uhuru Kenyatta?

Well, his recent official activities have kept Kenyans speculating about the most hyped 2022 succession politics.

On Monday, Dr Matiang’i officiated a passing out parade for 1,224 officers who have completed a standardization course at Kiganjo as part of the reforms agenda for National Police Service.

During the event, Matiang’i inspected the parade, something that the president has been doing over a long period of time, being the commander-in-chief of the armed forces.

Matiang’i has on several occasions been speculated of being prepared by President Kenyatta and his ODM counterpart Raila Odinga for the top most political seat come 2022.

And are these photos revealing anything about that?

Image

Well, early this year, Matiang’i was given powers that raised him to being the most powerful Cabinet Secretary who is in charge of launching government projects and chairing cabinet sittings.

This move was he talk among Kenyans, with many believing that Deputy President Dr William Ruto had been sidelined and left with no powers and duties other than politicking.

The DP is one of the most top 2022 presidential candidates. Are these powers given to Matiang’i sealing Ruto’s 2022 fate?

Well, former statehouse employee who is now based at DP Ruto’s Harambee Annexe office Dennis Itumbi on Monday evening shared one of Matiangi’s photos in a picture tweet that turned out to be a talk among Kenyans.

Many Kenyans while reacting on the photos believed that Matiang’i is the newly coronated King.

Some argued that Matiang’i is the incoming President after the end of President Kenyatta’s term in 2022 basing on the role he played during the pass out parade in Kiganjo.

Here are some of the reactions.

President Uhuru Kenyatta has and former prime minister Raila Odinga have led Kenyans in mourning Court of Appeal Judge Prof James Otieno Odek.

President Kenyatta in his message described Odek as a prolific intellectual and a gifted legal mind.

In his message of condolence to the family, relatives and friends of the late Justice Odek, President Kenyatta said he was shocked and deeply saddened by the death of the Appellate Judge.

The President said the death of Justice Odek is not only a big blow to his close family and the judiciary but also to the whole country which he served with commitment and dedication in the dispensation of justice without fear or favour.

“In this hour of sorrow and grief, I convey my deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to Prof Justice James Otieno Odek’s family, relatives and friends,” President Kenyatta said.

The President prayed to God to comfort and give fortitude to the family at this trying moment.

ODM party leader Raila Odinga on his part said Odek’s untimely death robs the Judiciary of a critical member at a very critical time for Kenya and the Justice system.

“My deep condolences to the family and friends of Court of Appeal Judge Prof Justice James Otieno Odek. His untimely death robs the Judiciary of a critical member at a very critical time for our country and the Justice system,” he posted.

Odek died on Monday morning at his home in Kisumu.

The family says the judge collapsed and died in the house. He was aged 56.

Judge Odek served as the Director of the Judiciary Training Institute from 2016 to 2018, having become a Judge of the Court of Appeal in 2012.

In 2011, he unsuccessfully applied for the position of Supreme Court judge.

Machakos County Governor Dr Alfred Mutua on Monday morning recorded a statement at the Kilimani Police Station to over alleged threat on his life that occurred at State House last week.

Mutua claims that a section of Jubilee leaders allied to Deputy President Dr William Ruto have been threatening him.

“I have been threatened by the following people; Dp William Ruto, Hon Aden Duale, Hon Kipchumba Murkomen,” revealed Mutua.

According to him, the National Assembly Majority leader told him that he had been attacking them over a long period of time and they are now set to deal with him.

The Machakos county boss said Duale warned him against attacking the DP.

“Duale said ‘you’ve been attacking us and we will deal with you. Ukigusa DP unagusa sisi’ (if you touch the DP it also affects us),” Mutua claimed.

According to the governor, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Mr Murkomen asked Duale to step aside so that he can deal with the county boss.

“Murkomen said ‘Duale niachie I’ll deal with him’,” Mutua alleged in a presser on Monday morning.

Mutua further accused Duale of threatening to deal with over 50,000 members of the Kamba community who live in Garissa.

“Duale then said do you know there are more than 50k Kambas in Garissa and I can deal with them,” he cited.

Mutua says the DP warned him over what he alleged as continued attacks against him.

He, however, vowed to remain unshaken on the matter, urging police to do their work.

He further urged Kenyans to put him in their daily prayers.

Kaka Sungura, better known by his stage names King Kaka and Rabbit has been making major moves that solidifies his position as Kenya’s biggest entertainment export.

His style of singing tells it all.

The rapper has defied all the odds to slam Kenyan government and politicians in his latest jam dubbed Wajinga Nyinyi.

In the song, King Kaka decries the highest level of corruption, unemployment and unaccountability held by the Kenyan government.

He further accuses Kenyans of keeping calm knowing who will take over as Kenyan president come 2022 only for them to suffer for another five or ten years.

He also condemns Kenyans for always tolerating this kind of nature from the government, politicians and cartels.

He addresses how politicians and people in the government steals tax payers’ money, brings to church only for tax payers to unknowingly clap and praise them.

The which mentions all the mega scandals in the country has received a warm reception from Kenyans who are all over social media talking about it.

Nairobi County governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko seems to have turned to God over his troubles but Kenyans on Twitter are picking fan out of it.

In a video doing rounds on social media, the Nairobi county chief who has been hence barred from accessing his office over a graft case facing him is seen committing his life to Christ.

Sonko is seen singing along a praise and worship song as tears flow down his chicks.

The song seems to be his only source of hope as it says ” I know my savior is alive”.

“Najuaa.. Mkombozi wangu, anaishii…,” sings Sonko.

Kenyans are however hilariously reacting to the video, with some arguing that the governor flew to close to the sun with feathers fixed with wax.

Sonko on Thursday issued a statement via his social media platforms a day after he was released on bail.

The governor admitted that the past few days had been difficult for him but thanked his family for standing with him.

“The last few days have been a bit difficult. However, I would like to thank my family, friends well-wishers and all of you the great people of Nairobi for standing with me.

“I am home now and continuing with my treatment after posting bail through the assistance of my supporters, friends and family,” he said.

Sonko was on Tuesday taken to the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) after reportedly falling ill at the Kamiti Maximum Prison where he was remanded.

His defence team argued before Anti-Corruption Court Chief Magistrate Douglas Ogoti that the governor was sick and required medical attention after being roughed up by security personnel who arrested him in Voi last week.
