Deputy President Dr William Ruto and his allies have been told to pack up and leave if they are not ready to support President Uhuru Kenyatta on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI)push.

Firing the salvo on Saturday, Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo asked the DP and his allies in government to pack up and leave if they are not ready to support the President on the push.

He said Dr Ruto is contradicting the President, who has openly stated that he is supportive of the BBI.

“There is no turning back on the push for reforms, which we know will be ushered in through the BBI initiative. We will only listen to Raila and Uhuru, nobody else,” Mr Amollo said.

Speaking during the burial of freedom fighter Achieng Oneko’s widow, Loice Anyangi, at Kunya village in Rarieda, Siaya County, Otiende Amollo alongside Siaya Senator James Orengo tasked the DP to declare his stand on BBI.

Orengo told Dr Ruto that it was time he told Kenyans whether or not he supports the BBI that followed a truce between President Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga, after the prolonged elections season in 2017.

Mr Orengo claimed Dr Ruto is a “fence-sitter” who can’t be trusted with the country’s leadership.

He said it is strange that the DP supports the Constitution yet he opposed its adoption in 2010.

A section of Raila Odinga-led ODM party members are now challenging deputy president Dr William Ruto to declare his stand on the looming Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) proposals.

The lawmakers on Saturday said the DP has been sending mixed signals, leading to speculation that he is opposed to the drive.

The group of six lawmakers led by Senate minority leader and Siaya senator James Orengo tasked Ruto to say whether or not he was supporting BBI, an initiative that was formed by his boss president Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila after the March 9, 2018 handshake.

Orengo said the DP has been sending mixed signals, leading to speculation that he is opposed to the drive.

He further told Dr Ruto that it was time he told Kenyans whether or not he supports the BBI.

Orengo claimed Dr Ruto is a “fence-sitter” who can’t be trusted with the country’s leadership.

He said it is strange that the DP supports the Constitution yet he opposed its adoption in 2010.

“Ruto must declare his stand on the BBI. Those he has lined up to oppose the document must also give us the alternative they’re proposing. Let them put their proposal on the table” the senator said in Rarieda, Siaya County.

More troubles are seemingly brewing for Kenya’s music group Ethic Entertainment.

Just a day after moral cop Dr Ezekiel Mutua spitting venom over their new jam ‘Tarimbo’ which he said was advocating for violence against women, Kenyan socialite-turned-entrepreneur Huddah Monroe has taken the musicians’ woes further after accusing them of vanishing into thin air with her deposit after striking a business deal.

Huddah who took to her Insta Story on Saturday claimed she asked the controversial singers to record a song appreciating women and their beauty.

The Huddah Cosmetics propretor went ahead to point out that she also wanted her business featured in the song.

However, the project didn’t materialize as the group, she claimed, disappeared with her deposit never to update her on the progress.

Huddah, born Alhuda Njoroge, was reacting to Kenya Films and Classification Board (KFCB)  boss Ezekiel Mutua’s post disapproving Ethic’s new song titled “Tarimbo”.

Mutua said he had spoken to google to pull down the song from you tube.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga has continued to get reinforcement ahead of November 7 Kibra by elections in what is seen as a war between him and deputy president Dr William Ruto.

Kibra, which has been described as Raila’s bedroom by his allies has turned into a Raila-Ruto battle. Ruto is fighting to have his candidate McDonald Mariga win the parliamentary seat that was left vacant following the demise of Ken Okoth who succumbed to cancer in July.

On Saturday, Raila got a back up from two Ukambani governors in a move that seem to have strengthened his ‘bedroom’ fence.

Maendeleo chap chap party leader who doubles up as Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua alongside his Kitui counterpart Charity Ngilu threw their wight behind ODM’s Bernard Otieno Imran Okoth.

Mutua’s party through their official twitter account noted that they are fully supporting Imran, noting that it was good to recognize ideologies over party politics.

Raila asked Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua to rally the Kamba community living in Kibra, Nairobi, to campaign for its candidate ahead of the by-election on November 7.

Mr Odinga and Governor Mutua are expected to address a joint campaign rally at Woodley grounds today (Sunday) afternoon, to drum up support for Bernard Imran Okoth, the Orange Democratic Movement’s candidate.

The surprise move comes two days after ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna declared that the party will form new political alliances after the Kibra by-election.

However, the move has seen DP Ruto criticize Raila in what he terms as calling for reinforcement in your own bedroom.

Ruto who was speaking in Salgaa on Saturday expressed his confidence that Mariga will emerge the winner in the forthcoming mini polls.

On November 7, ODM’s Imran Okoth will face off with Jubilee’s Mariga, ANC’s Eliud Owalo, Ford Kenya’s Khamisi Butichi among other candidates.

They do say that politics is a dirty game, and indeed it is! Do you remember an incident during 2017 presidential campaigns where a NASA rally at Jacaranda grounds was disrupted when human waste and all manner of garbage were littered all over the place?

Well, the incident might have just repeated itself! Wrangles in Nairobi County pitting Governor Mike Sonko, speaker Beatrice Elachi and MCAs seem to be getting messy and noisy by the day.

Early this week, residents of a ward whose MCA has been at the centre of the infighting in the county, woke up to a sad state of affairs as per reports by a local daily.

Human waste and all manner of garbage were littered all over the place. Nearly all roads, walkways and markets in the ward were tuned into a dumpsite.

Those in know intimated to the local daily that the ward rep was paying the price for refusing to ‘toe the line.’

On September 6, 2018, former nominated Senator Beatrice Elachi and then the speaker of the Nairobi County Assembly was on her lowest moment after MCAs passed an impeachment motion against her and later attempted to eject her from office.

Bloodstained floors, broken furniture and gunshots marked the return of Speaker Beatrice Elachi to the Nairobi County Assembly on October 9, 2019.

Ms Elachi stormed the assembly precincts and camped at the Speaker’s office citing a court order reinstating her after her impeachment in September last year.

Accompanied by Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga and about 13 ward reps allied to Jubilee and Orange Democratic Movement parties, Elachi announced that she was back to stay and dared anyone disgruntled by her return to force her out of the office.

A fistfight began when ward reps supporting acting Speaker Chege Mwaura and Majority Leader Abdi Guyo stormed into Elachi’s office.

Makadara MP George Aladwa has mocked Deputy President Dr William Ruto over his continued efforts to campaign for Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga ahead of November 7 Kibra by elections.

Speaking on Saturday, the MP questioned Ruto’s interest in the seat and confidence that he can deliver it to Mariga, arguing that the DP failed to deliver the Turbo seat which is in his backyard to Jubilee.

He pointed out that Turbo is represented by an independent MP, yet Ruto is the Jubilee Party deputy leader.

“He is coming to tell people to vote for his man yet his own Sugoi MP is an independent. The person who won in Turbo was not a Jubilee candidate (Huyu sasa anakuja kuambia watu wapigie mtu wake kura na huko kwake Sugoi mbunge wa pale ni independent. Pale Turbo mwenye alishinda si wa Jubilee),” he said.

Aladwa made the remarks during an interview on Radio Jambo on Saturday morning.

He also faulted the DP for causing too much attention in Kibra, saying that out of his eagerness to see Mariga winning the seat, he is turning a mini poll into a general election.

“This is just a by-election. When I see Ruto with choppers there I begin to wonder whether this is really a by-election (Hii ni by-election tu. Nikiona Ruto na machopper pale nashindwa hii ni by-election kweli)” he added.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has fronted Imran Okoth as the party’s candidate in the race.

ODM candidate for the Kibra by-election, Imran Okoth, has disowned a Twitter account which has accused his opponent and Jubilee candidate, McDonald Mariga, of stealing his manifesto among other misdeeds.

In a tweet on Friday night, Imran said he is working to get his account verified and warned supporters against following @Imran_Okoth, which he said is a fake account.

Okoth reiterated his commitment to ODM party leader Raila Odinga and urged voters to turn out in big numbers to vote him in.

However, Kenyans on twitter have pointed fingers at Dennis Itumbi, arguing that he is the one responsible for Imran’s fake twitter account.

Imran is seeking to replace his brother, Ken Okoth, who succumbed to cancer in July.

Imran is among 24 candidates who will battle it out for the Kibra seat next Thursday.

It is a well-organised and complicated syndicate of cartels involving both senior and junior officers.

Top officers at the registration bureau have devised deliberate ways to delay or deny issuance of birth certificates.

As a result, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i says an ICT problem had been deliberately created to slow down or jam processes, creating an artificial backlog so that anyone who wants to be fast racked has to pay a bribe in order to jump the queue.

He said those who don’t, remain a frustrated lot, suffering the consequences of endless excuses and months of waiting for their documents.

To add an insult to the injury, the cartels conspire with various hospitals where corruption starts at birth.

In this regard, parents are lured into paying hospital administrators an exorbitant fee so that birth certificates are processed and distributed without scrutiny or authentication.

Dr Matiang’i, who, and his PS Karanja Kibicho, has been camping at the bureau for a week, on Friday said it was embarrassing to discover that a large number of Kenyans have had to encounter indignity in the hands of public servants.

“This racket primarily targets illegal immigrants seeking Kenyan citizenship through the backdoor,” Matiang’i said.

He said though these are two documents are critical documents in the life of citizens, the officers had conspired with IT staff to tamper with the ICT system.

As a result, some 24 senior officers have been arrested and will be arraigned in court on Monday.

Matiang’i said out of the 24 suspects, 20 are from various departments within the bureau while four are hospital staff from St. Francis Hospital.

This comes after two top officers from the department were last week interdicted over the same claims.

“We are here to demonstrate our commitment to ensuring that Kenyans get the service they deserve and shall not allow Kenyans to be preyed upon by corrupt individuals fleecing them at the most vulnerable moment of their lives,” he said.

Matiang’i was flanked by Kibicho, ICT CS Joe Mucheru, PS Jerome Ochieng’ and Inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambai.

“Government is about service delivery. We are to serve and not to humiliate and frustrate Kenyans. People cannot be lining here from 5 am and leave at 6 pm without being served,” he said.

Matiang’i said the cleanup will entail total a total overhaul of the system, which includes people, processes, procedures, hardware and software to improve accountability and efficiency of service.

He said amid efforts to clear backlog at the bureau, all Huduma Centre branches in Nairobi, now have the capacity to print Birth Certificates.

This means Citizens will no longer have to come to the Bishop house to receive follow up or receive their Birth Certificates.

Mucheru in his remarks said some 17 staff from the ICT ministry will be camping at the bureau throughout the weekend to ensure all services are digitised.

So far, Mucheru said since last week they have managed to digitise 32 million files.

He said they expect to clear the entire backlog before December 1.

Statehouse employee Dennis Itumbi has found himself in trouble with Kenyans on twitter after he shared the news of Legendary Jamaican reggae artist Kenyatta Hill endorsing Jubilee’s candidate in the November 7 Kibra by elections McDonald Mariga.

Itumbi posted Kenyatta Hill’s video, captioning it “Kenyatta Hill Endorses Mariga. He will be performing on Sunday in Kibra.”

In the video, the legendary singer who is the son to former reggae star Joseph Hill of the group Mighty Culture says he will be in Kenya for one reason.

Kenyatta Hill, who is named after Kenya’s founding father Jomo Kenyatta says he will be here to support Mariga because Mariga has promised to support the talent once elected.

But Kenyans on twitter have refused to take any of Itumbi’s narrative. They argue that Kenyatta Hill is just after money. Some are arguing that he comes from one of the most poorest regions in the world.

Some have accused Itumbi and his team of affording the money to pay the musician but can’t afford to upgrade Kibra.

Some blasted Itumbi for what they argued as thinking that performing at a rally based on a promise will make things change for their candidate.

Kenyatta Hill began his music career one day after the death of his father Joseph Hill who collapsed and died while on stage in Germany in 2006.

From the time of the death of his father, Kenyatta Hill has staged numerous shows across the world perhaps proving to the globe that he has the capacity to step into the shoes of his late dad who was internationally respected for songs including Adis Ababa, Where Do You Get Your Bread Mr Slagad, Wings Of A Dove, Be Honest To Yourselves, among others.

Music group Ethic Entertainment have found themselves in deep trouble after releasing their latest jam dubbed Tarimbo that premiered on You tube Friday morning.

The song which has got the attention of moral cop Eziekiel Mutua is set to be pulled down from you tube.

The seemingly angry Mutua took to his social media account on Friday morning to notify Kenyans that he had spoken to google to pull down the song which he has termed as crap.

According to Mutua, the song advocates for rape of women.

While noting that promoting violence against women is a crime, Mutua has called for George Kinoti-led Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to arrest the entire bunch of musicians under Article 33, for going beyond the prescribed delimitations on freedom of expression by advocating for violence against women.

I have spoken to Google to take down the damn crap called Tarimbo by Ethic Entertainment which advocates for rape of women. Promoting violence against women is criminal. The DCI should arrest the entire bunch of musicians called Ethic, under Article 33, for going beyond the prescribed delimitations on freedom of expression by advocating for violence against women.

He says the current musicians and performers have defied everything decent societies holds dear and thrown morality to the four winds in the name of money and popularity.

He has cautioned all the clubs and DJs not to play such type of songs.

“When we banned Wamlambez people said we were killing creativity. I asked these nincompoops if they could shout Wamlambez to their mothers and they said they could. I was baffled. These so called musicians and performers have defied everything decent societies holds dear. They have thrown morality to the four winds in the name of money and popularity. My interpretation of Wamlambez and Tarimbo is that these are not artists. They are demented circus thugs hiding behind art to promote indecency. Any self respecting DJ should not play these songs. No club should allow music that advocates for violence against women. Unless decent people rise against the wave immorality in Kenya, we are going to lose a generation in the name of creative freedom. No freedom is absolute. This time round we must draw the line!” Mutua posted on facebook.

This is not the first time Mutua is engaging in a tussle with the new generation artists.

Takataka hit maker Alvindo and Gengetone singers Sailors gang are among the artists that have found themselves in trouble with Mutua over the content in their songs.

A few months ago, Mutua banned Sailors Gang’s Wamlambez from playing outside the clubs.

More than 400 SportPesa employees, who were rendered jobless on October 2 after their contracts were terminated, were on Friday, November 1, issued with redundancy notices.

The meeting was called by the firm’s head of human resources, Terry Wanja Njagi, via an email dated Thursday, October 31, and addressed to all ex-staff members.

And, in their hundreds, the former employees of Kenya’s leading betting firm trooped to the Chancery Building on Valley Road, Nairobi on Friday ahead of the 11am convention that they hoped would see them get their jobs back.

However, that did not happen.

According to sources who spoke to local dailies, the meeting, which lasted less than 20 minutes, yielded only one message: that all the employees’ termination letters have been withdrawn, and replaced with redundancy letters.

“They [SportPesa management] did not give us the information we expected [that we’ll have our jobs back]. In the extremely brief meeting, they said that our termination letters were withdrawn, and that we will, instead, be served with redundancy notices as the Kenyan labour law demands,” said an informant, who spoke to a local daily on condition of anonymity.

In an October 31, the company’s CEO Captain Ronald Karauri said via a letter: “We refer you to our notice of termination of employment dated October 2, 2019. By copy of this letter, please consider the said-notice withdrawn with immediate effect and the content therein nullified.”

Former President Mwai Kibaki is admitted at The Nairobi Hospital.

According to reports by a local daily, Kibaki was admitted to hospital on Monday after he complained of pain on his knee.

Kibaki, 88, was in London last week for a series of medical checks where his knee was also examined. It is understood that Mzee’s knee has been paining.

“Mzee was taken to the hospital for some check-ups but we are praying for him,” a family source was quoted by the local daily.

But Kibaki’s Private Secretary Ngari Gituku vehemently denied that the ex-President was admitted. He described him as “cheerful and alert.”

Gituku said The Nairobi Hospital is one of the facilities the former Head of State occasionally visits for medical attention.

“It could be one of the medical facilities where he occasionally seek medical attention. That doesn’t mean he is there,” Gituku was quoted.

Kibaki’s predecessor Daniel Moi is also undergoing treatment at the same hospital.

Nairobi County governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has yet again exposed cartels who have been milking his government dry by supplying ‘hot air’.

Taking to his facebook account on Wednesday evening, Sonko said that the cartels who had siphoned money from the previous Evans Kidero-led administration have come back again.

The flamboyant governor says a company by the name PROLAND Ltd owned by Mr Fredrick Mungai recorded a consent with Nairobi County Gov’t during the previous administration to be paid Sh35m for supplying hot air

According to Sonko, the cartels were paid over Sh50m during the previous regime for the supply of air.

He notes that they are back with plain cloth Police officers at his Finance offices to force the County Government to pay more millions at the expense of taxpayer’s money.

The county chief says that so far the cartels have already been paid Sh175,000,000 without supplying anything to the county.

His facebook post reads “The cartels are back again at City Hall. PROLAND Ltd owned by a Mr Fredrick Mungai recorded a consent with Nairobi County Gov’t during the previous administration to be paid Sh35m for supplying hot air.

They were paid over Sh50m during the previous regime for the supply of air.

Now they’re back with plain cloth Police officers at our Finance offices to force the County Government to pay more millions at the expense of taxpayer’s money.

So far they have already been paid Sh175,000,000 without supplying anything to the county.

But as long as I’m the Governor of Nairobi, I will not allow the cartels to steal County Gov’t money.”

He has however vowed to fight the cartels saying that he will not allow them to steal County government money.

Sarah Wairimu, the chief suspect in the murder of Tob Cohen, has asked the court to grant her permission to access her Kitisuru home so that she can collect her clothes, shoes, vehicle and other belonging.

Wairimu, through her lawyer Philip Murgor, says she is spending a lot of money on purchasing new clothes.

In the application filed by Murgor, Wairimu says her vehicle is not part of the investigations, and, therefore, it should be released to her.

The suspect claims she is surviving on lifts from relatives and friends and taxi rides, which she terms as expensive.

The prosecution, through Catherine Mwaniki, objected to the application, saying everything in Wairimu’s house is treated as part of exhibit in Tob Cohen’s murder case, and, therefore, should not be tampered with.

Justice Stella Mutuku declined to issue any order Wednesday, instead, asking Murgor to file a formal application that will be heard on Tuesday, November 5.

Wairimu, who in early October pleaded not guilty to killing Tob Cohen, is out on a Ksh2 million bond.

Tob Cohen, who went missing on July 19, was on September 13 found murdered, and his body dumped in an underground water tank at his Kitisuru home.

The center manager, two supervisors and an invigilator deployed to Hezta Primary School in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County were arrested on Wednesday, October 30, after four teachers at the institution allegedly aided 29 pupils in exam cheating.

The tutors were also apprehended.

According to Nyandarua County Commissioner, Boaz Cherutich, security officers assigned to the school got suspicious when they saw the four teachers within the school compound as KCPE tests continued, an act which is prohibited by the national exam council.

“After alerting my office, I assigned law enforcement agents to go to the school and investigate the allegations. Preliminary report shows there was negligence on the side of the center manager, two supervisors and an invigilator, given they allowed the four teachers to access the school, which is against KNEC ‘s exam supervision regulations,” Cherutich was quoted by a local daily.

“We have asked the Teachers’ Service Commission to take disciplinary action against the eight. Tomorrow [Thursday, October 31], a new team will be deployed to supervise the Social Studies paper at Hezta Primary School,” said Cherutich.

The suspects will be arraigned once investigations are concluded, said the county commissioner.
