“What happened is they divided the households items. Raburu then rented a house for Marya and paid a deposit of two months,” the source said.

Marya has since deleted her social media account. The last time Raburu shared his wife’s photo was on Mother’s Day.

The presenter got married to Marya in an exclusive wedding two years ago, which only close friends and family members attended.

Political leaders affiliated to Deputy President William Ruto have announced plans to bypass Jubilee party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju.

The disgruntled politicians plan to convene a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting without involving Mr Tuju. The NEC has not met since the 2017 elections.

The Secretary-General had stated that he is not able to convene the meeting because he is operating on an acing capacity.

“As it is, we are currently operating under Article 33 of the Constitution, the transitional clause. Under this law, I cannot purport to claim to be the bonafide Secretary-General, and this applies to all other officials on acting capacity. As such, it is difficult for even me to convene the demanded NEC when I don’t have a full mandate as an elected official,” Tuju was quoted by a local daily.

The DP’s allies now state that Tuju’s deputy, Soy MP Caleb Kositany, who is allowed by the party constitution to deputise the SG, will convene the meeting.

SG Tuju offended a section of Jubilee party members after he submitted a list of changes to names of the party’s National Management Committee (NMC) to the Registrar of political parties.

Kositany in a protest letter on Friday noted it is not going to be business as usual in the running of party affairs.

“Arrangements are currently underway to convene the NEC meeting in compliance with the directions issued by the Registrar of Political Parties on 16th April, 2020. The registrar directed that any such changes should be made in accordance with the procedures and processes of the Jubilee party constitution and structures,” the disgruntled MPs stated in a letter.

Mr Kositany on Sunday added: “Look at the party constitution. We have many options. We are preparing for the meeting, where we intend to make right all wrongs that have been done in Jubilee. It is not going to be business as usual.”

Curfew breakers will no longer be accommodated at the usual government quarantine facilities.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Rashid Aman on Sunday May 3, 2020 while giving the daily Covid-19 briefings at Afya House said that those arrested defying curfew while now be taken to different centres, that meet social distancing rule.

CAS Aman said that the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai had been directed to designate a curfew breakers’ holding place, to avoid putting the curfew breakers together with those that have been quarantined after showing the signs of Covid-19.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe had earlier announced that those found defying curfew are assumed to have been exposed, thus the need to get quarantined.

CAS Aman’s announced on directing IG Mutyambai to designate a holding place for curfew breakers comes after an outcry from Kenyans.

Kenyans had earlier on caused an uproar, decrying the poor conditions that curfew breakers normally get exposed to.

Speculations have it that those arrested are normally kept in the same rooms with suspected Covid-19 patients, without even considering the social distancing rules.

Those arrested are however, expected to cater for their own accommodation bills, after completing the 14 days of quarantine, and completing the two mandatory Covid-19 tests.

Kenya has confirmed a highest number of coronavirus cases in a single day.

Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Rashid Aman on Sunday May 3, 2020 while giving the daily Covid-19 briefing at Afya House confirmed 30 new cases.

The CAS said that the cases came from the mass Covid-19 testings that kicked off in Nairobi’s Kawangware area, Eastleigh area and Mombasa.

CAS Aman said that out of the 30 new Covid-19 cases recorded today, 19 are from Mombasa, eight from Nairobi, two from Bungoma and one from Kitui County.

Bungoma has now joined the 16 Counties that have so far registered Covid-19 cases. The new cases are truck drivers.

Two more Covid-19 patients have also died, bringing the total number of fatalities to 24.

However, CAS Aman announced 15 more recoveries.

He was forced to run for his safety while the Muslim faithfuls were dispersed.

“I was giving food stuff to Muslims at Jamia mosques and Huddah Muslim when the police threw teargas canisters. I don’t know the mistake I committed to deserve that,” said the deputy President William Ruto allied MP.

Dr. Mishra was distributing foodstuffs to over 1000 Muslim Muslim households living in Uasin Gishu at  Huddah Muslim School and Jamia Mosque in Eldoret town.

The Kesses legislator further refuted claims on social media that he gives food donation to get political mileage.

A seemingly angry powerful Deputy President William Ruto’s ally has dismissed Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju’s decision on party changes.

The party’s Deputy Secretary General Caleb Kositany has moved to reverse Tuju’s decision to publish in local dailies the changes made to the party’s top organ, which had been highly protested by DP Ruto and his allies.

In a notice that appeared in the Standard and Nation newspapers on Saturday, Tuju confirmed that the decision to bring in new members to the party’s NMC had been sanctioned.

The members include: Lucy Macharia, Walter Nyambati, Marete Marangu, James Waweru and Jane Nampaso.

However, in a statement, Kositany dismissed Tuju’s notice, saying that he had no powers to make such decision.

According to Kositany, a key ally of Deputy President William Ruto, the decision to make changes to the party’s NMC should be approved by the National Executive Committee.

Both the President and his deputy are the members of the NEC, the party’s top decision-making organ.

” The said notice has not been sanctioned by the National Executive Committee as per the demands of Article 7 of the Constitution. It is therefore null and void. The National Management Committee is the creation of the NEC and any changes therein can only be effected after an official notice of a NEC meeting,” Kositany said.

Kositany further dismisses Tuju as a con artist in the party.

Nyali constituency MP Mohamed Ali has clashed with governor Hassan Ali Joho over the mass testing for Covid-19 that kicked off in Mombasa on Saturday May 2, 2020.

A section of the residents of Mombasa boycotted the exercise, forcing governor Joho to lose temper on them.

Joho scolded the residents of Old Town for what he termed as evading coronavirus tests.

The furious governor expressed his disappointment that residents failed to avail themselves for the mass testing which the county had rolled to ascertain the spread of the deadly virus.

He further stated that once the residents will once more not avail themselves for the testing, they will be locked up in their houses.

Responding to Joho’s outburst on the Saturday night, the vocal journalist-turned politician opposed Joho’s words pointing out that it was not wise for the governor to ‘threaten’ the residents.

He went on to state that as coastal leaders, they ought to come up with a strategy to support the residents. Some of which he mentioned were; allowing health professionals to do their work and also giving scientists humble time to investigate the condition and offer advisory measures.

He further disclosed that most of the residents are reluctant in going for the tests since once confirmed positive, they are informed that quarantine and treatment costs are at their own costs.

He called off the governor for setting aside Ksh 700 Million shillings for fighting the pandemic.

He questioned the move on when parliament discussed such amounts and also went on to ask if the money is there, why are the residents forced to pay for the services.

He also opposed Joho’s idea on calling for a lock down in the county due to increase in number of the confirmed positive cases

A ferry with an unknown number of passengers has capsized in Lake Victoria at Usenge.

The boat popularly known as Water Bus is said to have been plying the Mageta Island—Usenge beach route in Siaya County when the incident occurred.

Sources say the boat could have been hit by strong winds and high tides partly attributed to rising water levels of Lake Victoria.

A rescue mission is currently underway, coordinated by local administration and beach management units.

Water levels have been on the rise in Lake Victoria over the last four months.

This has been attributed to high rainfall levels in Western Kenya as well as climatic change.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has said that Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju has declared a political war, which will end in tears.

The controversial lawmaker took to his official facebook page to react to the changes in the ruling party that have been highly protested by Deputy President William Ruto and his allies.

Tuju, despite all the protests from lawmakers allied to Tanga Tanga faction of Jubilee, has gone ahead to publish the changes made on the ruling party’s National Management Committee (NMC) in Saturday’s May 2, 2020 leading local dailies.

Moses Kuria, while reacting to the publications, termed Tuju as an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party special envoy in Jubilee.

Kuria says that Tuju has placed a notice in Saturday papers with the irregular changes in the Jubilee National Management Committee despite the ruling by the Registrar of Political Parties.

He went ahead to say that the Country is at the onset of a budget and Finance Bill process in parliament and it needed peace and space without political sideshows.

“Despite the ruling by the Registrar of Political Parties, ODM special envoy in Jubilee Raphael Tuju has placed a notice in Saturday papers with the irregular changes in the Jubilee National Management Committee. We are at the onset of a budget and Finance Bill process in parliament and we needed peace and space without political sideshows. Anyway, war has been declared. It will end in tears,” he posted.

The Registrar of Political Parties had temporarily stopped the anticipated change of names in Jubilee Party’s National Management Committee.

RPP Anne Nderitu halted the decision to effect the changes after 350 members of the party filed written objections with her office over the manner in which the process was carried out.

Ms Nderitu wrote to Tuju, forwarding the objections and ordering resolution of the issues the members raised in their demand for the process to be halted.

She noted that the issues must be addressed in accordance with the party’s constitution, the Political Parties Act and the conclusion filed with her office.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has broken his silence on the ministry’s Ksh. 1 billion expenditure that had caused an uproar among Kenyans.

In a post on his Facebook page on Thursday evening, Kagwe said information on Coronavirus expenditure that has been circulated on social media is baseless and if there is any truth in it, he will take action.

The CS dismissed the information on how the ministry spent the Ksh 1 billion donated by world bank, that has hence gone viral as lies, innuendo and propaganda.

“Good Evening. I have debated posting tonight but am doing so because I read your comments and appreciate your sentiments and fears. As a Kenyan, I too have been disappointed by leaders who fail us for reasons that span inefficiency to corruption.

” The allegations you are seeing are based on this trend: public skepticism and pessimism. I get it. And so I am here to let you know that among us is a cohort that believes in exploitation and that thinks that by spreading lies, innuendo and propaganda, I will be intimidated and worse, lose the trust of you – – the Kenyan – – who believes in our cause and my integrity.

“They want us sidetracked. I am no greenhorn; I have seen such mischief before, wasn’t intimated then and will not be intimidated now. Watch my actions, they will illustrate this.

“The job at hand is simple: save lives in the most cost efficient way and accomplish this in collaboration with the people this position devotes me to: YOU.

“So, in pointing out the fakeness of the financial analyses making the circuit, I am sure that you will agree with me this is not the appropriate forum for me to delve into detailed accounting, balance sheets et all.

“But that is coming. You need transparency and will get it in a manner detailed enough for your critical analyses. Suffice it to say, there will be no theft of COVID-19 resources under my watch and if there is any truth regarding the misuse of COVID-19 funds, beyond being disheartened, I guarantee you that those responsible will be out of the ministry faster than we can blink. Propaganda or not, we, WILL sanitize the healthcare system…so God help us” he posted.

“Dear Raila Odinga. Why did you fire Eng Nicholas Gumbo as Chair of Kenyatta National Hospital ? How many COVID billions are you expecting at KNH that you want a compliant man ? Or is it because Gumbo will beat Oburu 10-0 for Siaya Governor 2022? When you keep extinguishing hope inspiring candles like Gumbo, how do you expect Luo Nyanza to take off? Or do you even care whether Luo Nyanza takes off or not? You extinguished Oduol and Siaya has lost a decade under Rasanga Amoth. Now another decade you want lost. Yes you are co-President today but use your power realising there is a God in heaven,” read his post.

President Kenyatta appointed George Opondo Ooko as the new Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) board chairperson.

President Kenyatta, in a gazette notice, appointed Mr. Ooko to the position on a two-year term effective April 21, 2020.
