Didmus Barasa

Flamboyant City Lawyer Donald Kipkorir has called for the immediate arrest of Kimilili Constituency MP Didmus Barasa.

According to Donald Kipkorir, the first term Jubilee party lawmaker has violated Chapter 6 of the Constitution, Leadership and Integrity Act, Public Officer Ethics Act, Parliamentary Powers and Privileges Act and, Parliamentary Leadership Code.

This is after Barasa took to his twitter Friday evening to dig into Wajir Women Representative Fatuma Gedi’s personal family matters, sharing a document exposing a feud between Gedi, her husband and their children.

“Dear @EACCKenya , @SpeakerJBMuturi .. This tweet by Didmus Barasa egregiously violates Chapter 6 of the Constitution, Leadership & Integrity Act, Public Officer Ethics Act, Parliamentary Powers & Privileges Act & Parliamentary Leadership Code .. He must face arrest & sanctions,” tweeted the lawyer.

On the document bearing a Kadhi’s court hearing on a case petitioned by Gedi’s husband Mohamed Abdi Omar, Gedi had been ordered to hand over the children to the husband for the while of April holiday.

Didmus sarcastically called for a section of woman MPs to combine efforts in what he termed as helping Gedi get another husband “so as to stop chewing small boys including her drivers and bodyguards”.

@Hon_FatumaGedi you forgot your below document in Kibra. @RehemaJaldesa@Cate_Waruguru@WanguiNgirici . Please rally @KEWOPA to combine forces with @InuaMamaKE to assist @Hon_FatumaGedi get another husband. So as to stop chewing small boys including her drivers and bodyguards,” tweeted Didmus.

Kimilili constituency Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has found himself on the wrong side with Kenyans after he showed disrespect to Wajir County Women Representative Hon Fatuma Gedi.

Didmus on Friday night through his official twitter account dug into Fatuma Gedi’s personal family matters, sharing a document exposing a feud between Gedi, her husband and their children.

It is at this point that Kenyans strated showing their disgrace in the MP, slamming him hard for what they say lacking brains and being petty.

Busia County Women Representative Florence Mutua is among Kenyans who have schooled Barasa, telling him to keep off the family matters of other people.

“Mhesh … you must know where to draw the line. This is totally unnecessary. Let’s fight political battles mambo ya family wachana nayo. Am sure you also have your battles in your front. Everyone does,” tweeted Mrs Mutua.

Some Kenyans have told Barasa to pick battles with his fellow men and keep women aside in his pettiness.

Here are some of the reactions.

Kimilili constituency Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa has invited applications for recruitment of 500 persons to join team ahead of 2022 political battle.

The pro-Ruto MP says that the recruitment bases on Directorate of Criminal Investigations’ silence over the violence meted against him by Dagoreti North MP Simba Arati on Thursday during Kibra constituency mini polls.

During the recruitment, the lawmaker says persons with certificate of good conduct will be disqualified and that Training commences immediately.

He further notes that an attractive commission and retainer will be offered to successful applicants.

“Its on this basis that I invite applications for recruitment of 500 persons to join my team, those with certificate of good conduct will be disqualified. Training commences imediately. An attractive commission and retainer will be offered to successful applicants,” reads Barasa’s post.

On Saturday, Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria urged Kenyans to build their “own goons battalions ahead of 2022” if violence witnessed in Kibra during the just concluded mini polls is anything to go by.

Kuria who took to social media to condemn the violence meted upon some Jubilee party politicians during the Thursday by elections expressed is shock in how Kenyans are making fun of the incidents.

While noting that he was not supporting Jubilee candidate McDonald Mariga in the Kibra parliamentary race,Kuria said that Kenyans should give everyone a chance to campaign freely anywhere.

He noted that the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader Raila Odinga was meant to resolve issues such as electoral violence.

He has further noted that the incident in which Simba Arati ordered goons to beat Kimilili MP Didimus Baraza infront of cameras is despicable.

According to the controversial MP, “Since Fred Matiangi and the security system has said nothing about this, I presume it’s fair game and we should all depend on goons not on the police”.

He says the fact that the incidents happened in the handshake bedroom speaks volumes about the “Building Batallions Initiative”, a term he has used to mock the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

He finishes his post by urging Kenyans to build their own goons battalions ahead of 2022 political period.

“I am still in shock that Kenyans are making fun of the violence meted upon Boni Khalwale and Didimus Baraza in Kibra. It is public knowledge that I was NOT supporting McDonald Mariga but we should give everyone a chance to campaign freely anywhere. The handshake was meant to resolve issues such as electoral violence. Simba Arati ordering goons to beat Didimus Baraza infront of cameras is despicable. Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa caused a stir in a committee meeting after rejecting attempts to have Chief Administrative Secretary respond to his questions.

Barasa who was appearing before the National Assembly’s Health Committee chaired by Sabina Chege on Tuesday said the CAS position is not recognised in law.

The lawmaker insisted that only the Health Cabinet Secretary or in his absence Principal Secretary are mandated by law to appear before House committees to respond to questions from members.

“There is a good reason why we said that the person to appear before a committee must be either a policymaker or an accounting officer,” Barasa told the committee.

“The National Assembly is the apex of people’s sovereignty, I can’t allow the person who holds a position not defined in the Constitution. I am convinced 100 per cent of the Speaker’s ruling that whoever appears before the Committee should not be lower than the PS.”

Attempts by Committee members to prevail upon the lawmaker to give CAS a chance to read the CS’s signed response was futile.

CAS Rashid Aman was representing CS at the Health Committee.

Barasa had asked the CS to state statistics of cancer patients who have travelled outside the country in the last five years to seek treatment.
