ODM leader Raila Odinga was on Saturday October 16, 2021 forced to cut short his speech while on his tour of Isiolo County.

Raila was in the North Eastern region to sell his Azimio la Umoja agenda, which is aimed at uniting the country ahead of the 2022 General elections.

Suna East MP Junet Mohammed was forced to intervene after residents of Isiolo continuously heckled when the former Prime Minister was addressing them.

The residents were demanding to be addressed by their former governor Godana Doyo.

They were not happy with their current governor Mohammed Kuti and demanded to be addressed by their former governor who was also present among other leaders.

“Kuti must go! Kuti must go! and “Doyo Doyo Doyo!” rented the air.

Raila is in one of his campaign trail in the parts of Isiolo to campaign for his 2022 presidential bid.

On Friday, Raila stormed Deputy President William Ruto’s home turf, bringing Eldoret town to a Standstill.

He was welcomed by a momoth crowd, unlike the expectations of many people.

DP Ruto on the other hand has pitched camp in the coastal region, trying to woo voters ahead of the next year’s succession politics.

The Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) Secretariat Co-Chairman Junet Mohamed has hit out at Senate Majority Whip Irungu Kang’ata over his leaked letter to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Junet questioned the timing of Kang’ata’s poll that was recorded in the letter, as the public were engaged in festivities and noted that the opinion is based on his claims.

“I don’t come from that area (Mount Kenya) so I cannot confirm what (Mr) Kang’ata is saying but this is the gospel according to Kang’ata. He may have his own opinion but I don’t know when Kang’ata became a pollster in this country.

“The last time I checked, he was Majority Whip in the Senate but today we are seeing  Kang’ata who is a pollster and who can go and commission an opinion poll within the Christmas period,” said Junet.

The Suna East MP insisted that the BBI secretariat is currently engaged in the verification of the collected signatures.

He becomes the highest-ranking official in the BBI team to respond to the letter which has been widely circulated since its release on Sunday, January 3rd.

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) began the process of signature verification on Thursday, December 31 to get one million credible signatures and meet the constitutional threshold.

In the letter to Uhuru, Kang’ata warned that the provincial administration’s role in the BBI process was contributing to its unpopularity.

“The role of the provincial administration & other forms of hard tactics in BBI mobilization is being framed as an example of government using its hard power to force citizens to endorse BBI. I propose we find ways of government wears velvet gloves.”

“Based on a survey I conducted during the December 2020 holidays, I have to the conclusion, BBI is unpopular in Mt Kenya… Out of every 10 persons I surveyed, six opposed it, two support it, and two others are indifferent,” his letter read in part.

The MP went as far back as when the independence party KANU united with KADU and noted that the period was marked by some of the country’s biggest scandals, most notably the looting of land.

Kuria warned that the union of ODM and the Jubilee Party could witness the same looting and even greater than previous ones experienced in the history of the country.

He added that the Kenya Medical Supply Authority (KEMSA) could be a first of many to come in the country.

KEMSA has been on the spotlight after the recently unearthed procurement and financial irregularities that jeopardised more than Ksh100 billion of donor funds as well as allegations of misuse of funds meant to boost the fight against Covid-19.

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party Director of Elections and Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has savagely responded to Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi, after he made weird demands from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Ahmednasir, who has been representing Deputy President William Ruto in a Weston Hotel land case, Thursday morning demanded President Kenyatta to address the nation and declare that he was not supporting DP Ruto anymore.

The lawyer further demanded the head of state to to say that he was wishing his deputy a bad luck, and to declare that he would fight his deputy tooth and nail to completely finish him.

“For his credibility/authority and even HONESTY, H.E UHURU must address the NATION and officially announce that he has parted ways with his deputy, that he isn’t supporting him for 2022, that he wishes him BAD LUCK, will fight him TOOTH and NAIL and will FINISH him KABISA. such a public declaration will greatly enhance H.E UHURU’S standing, credibility/stature. I think it is BENEATH Uhuru to fight his deputy by stealth or through EXPIRED wazees like Atwoli.Kenyans can appreciate such a bold and MANLY action and even support it,” reads part of Ahmednasir’s post.

Responding to the lawyer’s demands, Junet said that Ahmednasir will have to wait until the world ends or until he stops going to court, but his demands will never happen.

According to Junet, Ahmednasir’s demands only happens when somali people steal camels from each other.

“SC that you will wait until the world ends or you stop going to court.. what you are asking for only happens when SOMALIS steal CAMELS from each other,” Junet fired back.

Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has slammed ODM’s Junet Mohamed for invading Deputy President Dr William Ruto’s political bedroom and demanding that he leaves.

Ahmednasir says that it was wrong for Junet to invade Jubilee which he says is Ruto’s bedroom and demand for his exit.

According to the lawyer, it was is of no decency for ODM brigade to demand for Ruto’s exit so that they can sleep on the ‘bedroom’s bed’.

He has demanded for an explanation from Junet.

“Sometimes I DON’T UNDERSTAND my good friend Hon @JunetMohamed …he come to the bedroom of the DP Ruto(JUBILEE) and tells him to get out…so that they(odm) can sleep on the bed…NO common decency!!!.@WehliyeMohamed …please explain this,” he tweeted.

On Monday, Junet alongside some kieleweke MPs attacked the DP for what they claimed as his disrespect to president Uhuru Kenyatta.

They demanded for Ruto’s resignation if he was not ready to support his boss, president Kenyatta.

Junet claimed that Ruto quit Jubilee long time ago, only that he has not made it official.

He argued that DP Ruto kicked off his 2022 presidential campaigns after 2017 general polls, ignoring president’s orders of stopping early campaigns.

The Pro-Uhuru MPs drawn from Jubilee’s kieleweke faction, ODM and Wiper argued that Ruto had lost believe in his boss.

They relied on his attacks on Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) to demand for his resignation.

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has finally opened up on the criteria used to pick him as a Master of Ceremony at the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) report launch at Bomas of Kenya.

Speaking during KTN News’ Pointblank show on Wednesday night, Junet attributed his MC selection to him being present when President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga shook hands in 2018, at the steps of Harambee House.

“This was a political function that was supposed to deliver a document to Kenyans and that political function came about because of the handshake. When people were shaking hands at the steps of Harambee House, I think I am the only politician you saw there so I had a roll to play to deliver the same document that was brought about through the handshake to the people of Kenya,” Junet said.

The role Junet played during the BBI launch did not go down well with some people, triggering a lot of controversy.

There are those who held the view that a neutral person should have been choose to be the MC.

When Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen rose to speak during the launch, he accused the Suna East legislator of running the program in a manner he described as partisan.

Junet’s presence during the historic handshake raised his profile as not just any other politician, but a key Raila confidante.

National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has summoned three ODM politicians who are expected to appear before the commission on Monday.

Junet Mohamed (Suna East), Babu Owino (Embakasi East) and former Embakasi South MP Irshard Sumra are to record statements regarding allegations they made inciting remarks at a political rally in Kibra constituency.

In an exclusive interview with a local daily on Thursday, NCIC chief executive officer Hassan Mohamed said investigators are piecing together evidence before the file is forwarded to Director of Public Prosecution for action.

“Investigations are ongoing. We have looked at the video clips and investigators are also on the ground looking for more evidence,” Mohamed said.

He however stated that the three politicians had disputed the clips

“When they came here they said they wanted time to look at the video clips before they can record statements. We agreed they come back on October 28,” he said.

Rarieda MP and lawyer Otiende Amolo representing Junet and Babu denied the allegations terming the investigations “prejudicial” .

“The investigators shared with us their fashion of what they claim was said in Kibra. We have taken them and we shall check if they tally with our fashion,” Otiende told journalist after a closed door session with the investigators led by police chief inspector Jonson Kilua.

Mohamed had warned that stern action will be taken against the politicians .

“The commission is in receipt of a number of audio and video clips of politicians making what may amount to inflammatory statements,” he said.

He added: ” The clips are currently being reviewed by the commission in conjunction with other agencies. Should the clips reveal violations of the law, the perpetrators will be held accountable. “

Mohamed noted that campaigns in Kibra have been largely peaceful but accused some campaigners of using abusive language and inciting the electorate.

Mohamed also sounded a warning to social media users, saying those found to be in breach of NCIC Act will not be spared.

“The commission is also monitoring social media platforms to ensure that these platforms are not used to incite violence or propagate hate speech or ethnic contempt. We continue to urge members of the public to maintain peace not just in the areas conducting the by-elections but in the country at large,” he said.
