Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday February 11, 2020 extended his Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) campaigns to Mzee Daniel Moi’s memorial service at Nyayo stadium.

speaking while giving his tribute to the late former head of state, Raila narrated how he was a victim of Moi’s mistakes during his 24-year tenure.

Raila noted that despite being a victim of Nyayo regime, he had already reconciled with Moi, and shook hands.

He noted that they came together and drafted the Kenya’s constitution for the betterment of the nation.

He then dragged BBI campaigns in his tribute, noting that he had shook hands with President Uhuru Kenyatta to unify the country.

Raila noted that through BBI, the nation was bound to unity and prosperity.

Mzee Moi’s body will be interred tomorrow (Wednesday) at his Kabarak home in Nakuru County.

Thousands of Kenyans have arrived at Nyayo National Stadium to give their last respect to former head of state Mzee Daniel Moi as he takes his final journey.

In the memorial service that is being led by the state, at least seven heads of state are expected to attend.

Mzee Moi’s body first left Lee Funeral home Tuesday morning, headed to Statehouse Nairobi before heading to Nyayo Stadium for a memorial service.

The body of the late Moi had to be taken to Statehouse in respect to his 24 years of service as the commander in chief.

The body is then expected at Nyayo stadium, with the order of the events following each other as below;

  • President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected at 10:30 am at the stadium.
  • State reception of the cortege of President Moi at 10:35 am.
  • State memorial service between 10:45 am – 12:00 pm
  • Casket leaves for Lee Funeral Home at 2:15 pm

Thousands of Kenyans from all walks of had arrived at Nyayo Stadium as early as 5:00 am to be part of the late Retired President’s funeral service.

Majority of netizens had already taken their seats by 8 am, the very time they were expected to have settled.

The state of the art funeral service came a day after a three-day viewing exercise of the late Moi’s body at Parliament buildings had come to an end.

Moi passed on Tuesday 4th February at Nairobi Hospital after a long battle with an undisclosed illness.

His body will be interred tomorrow (Wednesday) at his Kabarak home with at least ten heads of state expected to attend the Kabarak funeral service.
