Miguna Miguna has yet again been kicked out of a Nairobi-bound plane that was set to land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on Wednesday morning.

The airline says Kenyan authorities did not clear Miguna to enter the country’s airspace.

Miguna says Kenyan government has requested the airline to block him.

The controversial lawyer was set to land at JKIA, Nairobi, on Wednesday at 9:45am, on his return from Canada.

Earlier on Tuesday, he was blocked from boarding a connecting flight to Nairobi from Germany.

He said he had been stopped by Lufthansa airline officials from boarding the flight to Nairobi, where he was scheduled to arrive at 9.25pm.

“I am at the Lufthansa check-in and they are saying the Kenyan security has blocked me from entering Kenya,” Miguna said, after the Kenyan Immigration Department had announced that it would honour a court order to facilitate Miguna’s entry.

He also claimed that the government had “demanded that Lufthansa should not fly me into any other African country, either”.

A terror suspect has been intercepted while conducting surveillance on Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Air Force Base in Eastleigh, Nairobi.

According to information shared by Counter Terrorism and National Security Intelligence (CTNSIS), a male Somali-Canadian was arrested in Eastleigh area of the Capital after he was intercepted conducting surveillance on the KDF Air Force Base.

This comes just a day after Al-Shabaab militants conducted a terror attack on US-Kenya military base in Lamu County.

During the attack, three people, including a US service member and two civilians, were killed.

Two other Department of Defense personnel were wounded in the attack on Camp Simba.

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) said in a statement on Sunday that “at around 5:30am an attempt was made to breach security at Manda Air Strip.

“The attempted breach was successfully repulsed. Four terrorists’ bodies have so far been found. The airstrip is safe,” the statement added.

The US military command for Africa, AFRICOM, confirmed there had been an attack in a brief statement.

Earlier, al-Shabab said in a statement the raid resulted in “severe casualties on both American and Kenyan troops stationed there”.

“The mujahideen fighters covertly entered enemy lines, successfully stormed the heavily fortified military base and have now taken effective control of a part of the base,” the armed group said.

Al-Shabab claimed it had destroyed seven aircraft and three military vehicles, without providing other details.

It also published pictures of masked gunmen standing next to an aircraft in flames.

Nairobi County governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko will today (Monday) appear in two different courts to face different charges.

Sonko is expected to appear before the Voi Law Courts, Taita Taveta County to take plea in a case where he is accused of assaulting Coast regional police commander Rashid Yakub.

During his arrest, Sonko allegedly became violent and assaulted the coast police boss by kicking him around the calf area.

The county chief who is also facing corruption related charges, is also expected to appear in an anti-graft court in Nairobi after spending the weekend behind bars.

He was arrested at a road block in Voi, along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway, by detectives a few hours after the Director of Public Prosecution Noordin Haji ordered for his arrest.

The governor tussled with police at Ikanga airstrip before he boarded a police chopper that had been sent to airlift him to Nairobi for questioning.

Drama ensued leading to a scuffle between Sonko, his aides and police officers.

The county boss had refused to board forcing police officers to bundle him into the waiting aircraft.

Sonko alongside other county officials are facing prosecution over irregular payments amounting to Sh357 million.

Nairobi County governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has yet again exposed cartels who have been milking his government dry by supplying ‘hot air’.

Taking to his facebook account on Wednesday evening, Sonko said that the cartels who had siphoned money from the previous Evans Kidero-led administration have come back again.

The flamboyant governor says a company by the name PROLAND Ltd owned by Mr Fredrick Mungai recorded a consent with Nairobi County Gov’t during the previous administration to be paid Sh35m for supplying hot air

According to Sonko, the cartels were paid over Sh50m during the previous regime for the supply of air.

He notes that they are back with plain cloth Police officers at his Finance offices to force the County Government to pay more millions at the expense of taxpayer’s money.

The county chief says that so far the cartels have already been paid Sh175,000,000 without supplying anything to the county.

His facebook post reads “The cartels are back again at City Hall. PROLAND Ltd owned by a Mr Fredrick Mungai recorded a consent with Nairobi County Gov’t during the previous administration to be paid Sh35m for supplying hot air.

They were paid over Sh50m during the previous regime for the supply of air.

Now they’re back with plain cloth Police officers at our Finance offices to force the County Government to pay more millions at the expense of taxpayer’s money.

So far they have already been paid Sh175,000,000 without supplying anything to the county.

But as long as I’m the Governor of Nairobi, I will not allow the cartels to steal County Gov’t money.”

He has however vowed to fight the cartels saying that he will not allow them to steal County government money.

Philip Sogoti Chepsat has hit the headlines when he applied for the post of the Deputy Governor, Nairobi County which has been vacant since the resignation of Polycarp Igathe on January 1, 2018.

Through an advertisement posted on Daily Nation, Chepsat has asked Nairobi governor Mike Sonko to give him the position so that he can assist him to deliver on the promises he made to the people of Nairobi when he was seeking election into office.

He has further said that he had applied for the post before but he was not sure whether Sonko had received the same.

“Hon Sonko, I have reached out to you openly because I am not sure if my earlier communication did reach you,” reads part of the advert.

While tendering his resignation letter, Igathe cited irreconcilable differences between him and the county boss when he penned his letter of resignation.

Kenyans on Twitter have however started reacting to Chepsat’s advert asking Governor Sonko to consider him.

Some are saying that Chepsat might be a God sent Deputy Governor for Nairobians.

Do you think Mike Sonko should consider him?

Former Foreign Affairs assistant minister Dr Hezron Manduku died on Saturday night in a Nairobi hospital after battling a disease for over a decade.

The family has confirmed his death, which was also immediately acknowledged by Nyaribari Masaba MP Ezekiel Mochogu.

“Mzee has peacefully rested. He served our people with humility and courage. We thank God for helping him this far. It was a good battle,” he said on Sunday.

Dr Manduku was first elected in 1992 on a KANU ticket after beating Prof Sam Ongeri, the current Kisii senator. In 1997, he lost to Ongeri.

But in 2002, he recuperated Nyaribari Masaba seat under Ford People, then under Mzee Nyachae, who had contested for presidency.

In 2007, Dr Manduku lost again to his rival Prof Sam Ongeri. He reverted to his business. He is the proprietor of Hema school and Hospital.

Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has since shifted his base to Nairobi after the court barred him from accessing his Kiambu office.

Waititu who is facing corruption charges has over the past few days been operating from his office along Nairobi’s Koinange Street, in a building he owns.

He had also been holding his executive meetings at the same place after the court ruled that he cannot access his offices in Kiambu County until his case is heard and determined.

Confirming the same, the county boss said that his executive powers allow him to operate from anywhere, rubbishing claims of trying to sabotage his deputy James Nyoro who has since announced taking over the county’s leadership.

“What is wrong with meeting my friends in my building? It is my right to meet whoever I want. My meetings have nothing to do with sabotaging Nyoro. Why sabotage him when I have executive powers? I am still his boss,” he was quoted by a local daily.

He added that he remains in charge, and can hold meetings wherever he deems necessary as the court never took his powers away.

“The court never reduced my powers to run the affairs of Kiambu. I can meet my ministers even at my home and discuss issues that affect the people who voted for me,” added the controversial county chief.

Pangani estate residents were on Sunday forced to spend their night in the cold when the most feared bulldozers from Nairobi County government landed on their houses in an effort to evict them to pave way for development of new houses.

The move sparked a lot of reactions with a section of Kenyans questioning why Governor Mike Sonko’s government had to evict the victims in the midnight with their property being crashed in the houses.

In a quick response to the critics, Governor Sonko has vowed not to compensate the victims, arguing that those who have not been paid are only those who refused the payment.

The seemingly angry governor told the evictees off, daring them to go to Court.

Sonko further notes that his government shall not allow development plans to be politicised.

“Take your NONSENSE to hell. Those not paid are the ones who refused to take the money, and we are not going to pay them. Let them go to court. We shall not allow development plans to be politicised,” tweeted Sonko.

The famous Industrial Area Prison in Nairobi has been put under pressure to provide answers over mysterious death of a man they had locked up.

Family of the deceased Mark Nyamweya has demanded answers from the Prisons department over the death of their 27-year-old relative.

According to reports by one of the local dailies, Nyamweya died at the Prison last Tuesday after he failed to pay Sh200 fine. He could not pay the money to secure his release.

Nyamweya, alongside five others, were arraigned in Makadara and charged with being drunk and disorderly.  He pleaded guilty and was fined Sh200, with an alternative sentence of seven days in custody.  He was locked up.

His relatives say the circumstances surrounding his death were suspect.

Family spokesman Nelson Mageto on Saturday said Kayole’s Soweto police and Industrial Area Prison should come clean on Nyamweya’s death.

He questioned why his nephew was arrested with 42 others but only six of them were arraigned.

He took issue with the Soweto police for failing to inform them of his arrest. They were not aware that Nyamweya had been arrested and arraigned until they were informed of his demise, he said.

A police source from the prison said Nyamweya died after developing stomach problems. “He felt bad, complained of stomach problems. He vomited and had diarrhoea before he died.”

The relatives were informed of the death by an officer from the prison who traced the club in which the deceased was arrested with the help of James Ongondi, who had been detained with Nyamweya.

They were booked under OB NO 21/6/7/2019 at 11am.

On Nyamweya’s condition, he said, “A police officer brought him some drugs and water, which he took at around 12am on Tuesday. At 4am, he again started groaning in pain. He cried until around 5am. We banged the door, but no officer responded.”

He said an officer brought porridge for Nyamweya at 6am. He took it and later died.

The relatives questioned the nature of the drug that was administered to Nyamweya, who diagnosed him, with what ailment and why the prison’s administration could not take him for emergency services.

His brother, Daniel, said they grew up orphans and Nyamweya had only stayed on Soweto estate for two months. He previously lived in Mathare North slum.

The family has sought help from the Independent Policing Oversight Authority, with claims the officers at the station were not cooperative.

In a letter, the authority has sought documents from the Soweto police station boss.

“The complainant requests for OB Number, extract and charge sheet as regard his nephew Mark Nyamweya who was arrested on July 8. He was committed to Industrial Area Prison and was found dead on July 9. Please accord him necessary assistance,” the letter dated July 11 reads.

It was signed by IPOA’s complaints management officer.to IPOA so their investigators do their job.

Nairobi County Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko on Sunday took the team Wanjiku campaigns to Mombasa alongside the Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria.

Sonko who dumped his security details to enter Mombasa aboard a matatu received a warm reception with youths chanting his name.

While addressing the really, the Nairobi County chief took a swipe at National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale. Sonko sent a stern warning to the Garissa Township lawmaker over his support for the increment of MPs salary by 100% including night allowances.

Sonko accused Duale of advocating for his own interests while the people of Garisa are suffering with lack of water and poor infrastructure.

Sonko told Duale to instead think about how the people who elected him can access good Hospitals , schools, roads and other essential infrastructures.

He further warned Duale to stop questioning the whereabouts of the revenue collected by County governments, directing him to go and read the audit books from the office of the Controller of budget.

He told the lawmaker to keep off devolution.

“Aden Duale nakwambia hii pesa ya Ugatuzi apana ya mama yako, hii pesa ya ugatuzi apana ya ngamia zako huko Garissa,” said Sonko.

The seemingly angry Sonko further cautioned Duale to be careful about 2022.

” Mimi nakwambia Duale ukiendelea hivo, kutaka kujiongezea mshahara na wananchi Garissa hawana maji, ukiendelea hivo 2022 utaenda kuchunga ngamia bila underwear,” Sonko said.
