The incumbent Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui has vowed to challenge Susan Kihika’s win in the Nakuru County gubernatorial contest.

The outgoing Nakuru Senator who vied on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket was declared winner of the gubernatorial contest after garnering 440,707 votes against Kinyanjui’s 225,623.

Declaring her the winner, Nakuru county Returning Officer, stated that Kihika beat Kinyanjui in all the 11 constituencies of the expansive and vote-rich county.

However, Kinyanjui has said that they have noted inconsistencies in the manner in which Nakuru people voted.

Speaking to the press this evening, the incumbent Lee Kinyanjui who was defending his seat on a Jubilee ticket said that they have noted that most people had voted for presidential candidates more than they had voted for other positions such as Governors, MPs, Women Representatives and MCAs.

According to Lee Kinyanjui, there was a curious voting pattern in Nakuru that saw electorates vote for President or Women Rep and disappeared, never voted for MP or MCA.

He noted that the process was not fair and as a result of the noted malpractices, he will be moving to court to challenge Kihika’s win.

Nakuru senator Susan Kihika on Wednesday June 10, 2020 tore into gender Cabinet Secretary Margaret Kobia after she defended ousted Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru.

Prof Kobia on Wednesday morning issued a statement condemning Waiguru’s impeachment.

Kobia in her statement termed the impeachment as an ‘indicator that some do not value strong women leadership.’

The CS said Waiguru’s impeachment during the Covid-19 global pandemic is a major injustice to women leadership.

She further demanded justice and due process to be followed in Waiguru’s impeachment.

Her statement however, sparked a public uproar, with a section of netizens questioning why she remained mum when Susan Kihika was outed as senate majority whip.

Kihika decided to take on the CS, questioning why CS Kobia never defended her.

She went further to question whether the Ministry of Gender was aware that she is a woman, arguing that she was even ready to send her naked photos the ministry for them to confirm.

“Wondering if a similar letter from @CSMargaretKobia 4 @CecilyMbarire & I got lost in the mail? Could the Ministry of Gender not be aware that we are women too? Cess, perhaps it’s time for you & I to send Kobia our naked pics then she might stand up for us against the bully too,” she tweeted.

Responding to Kihika, senate Deputy Speaker Margaret Kamar said that the naked part was unnecessary, arguing that Kihika’s was different and there wasn’t any political witch-hunt.

She argued that Kihika was not loyal to her Jubilee party, whilst Waiguru’s case is full of mens rea.

“With all due respect Mheshimiwa, the naked part was unnecessary. Anyway, your cases were different & there wasn’t any political witch-hunt. You were NOT LOYAL to your party. Waiguru’s case is full of mens rea,” she tweeted.

Just days after President Uhuru Kenyatta made surprise cabinet changes, the focus has now shifted to two key Deputy President William Ruto’s allies.

Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen and his Nakuru counterpart Susan Kihika are the next target after the axing of Mwangi Kiunjuri from agriculture ministry.

According to a local daily, President Kenyatta wants to take control of both houses to further assert himself and drive government agenda before he retires in 2022.

The Star on Friday reported that the President, Jubilee’s party leader is considering entering into an agreement with Gideon Moi.

Thereafter, Uhuru will convene a parliamentary group meeting to replace Murkomen with the Baringo Senator.

Senate whip Susan Kihika is also targeted for removal.

Sources at immigration intimated to the Star that the government is investigating the possibility that she may be holding two passports, a US and Kenyan one.

On Monday, Kihika was barred from entering the venue where President Kenyatta handed title deeds to a group of women who sang for his father.

Apart from Murkomen and Kihika, the President also wants to replace committees chairs who are not backing him.

The crackdown against Tangatanga MPs aims to vanquish Ruto’s influence in Parliament as the President seeks to take a firmer charge of his legacy projects.

Four lawmakers allied to Deputy President Dr William Ruto are crying foul after being locked out of president Uhuru Kenyatta’s event.

Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, Nakuru Town West MP David Gikaria, Martha Wangari (Gilgil) and Samuel Gachobe (Subukia) had Tuesday gone to attend a presidential function where President Kenyatta was expected to issue about 68,000 titles deed to settlers in Njoro, Gilgil, Rongai and Naivasha.

Kihika says that they were barred from accessing on claims that they belong to another political group.

According to her, security officers were following orders from above.

“Earlier today the area MP Hon Gikaria and I were refused entry into a PUBLIC function where the President will be issuing Title Deeds to the people of Nakuru County. We were informed that orders from above are that we cannot be allowed entry because we belong to an Unwanted Faction!” Kihika posted on her facebook account.

Kikaria gave up and left the venue in a huff having told the officers to keep the meeting to themselves.

Gikaria lamented that his time will come when he will be then one vetting who goes in.

Charity Kathambi of Njoro also boycotted the meeting despite most of the beneficiaries being her constituents.

MPs Wangari and Gachobe were later allowed to enter the function following the intervention of the Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya to have them allowed in.

The RC sent Nakuru County Commissioner to go pick the two legislators from the gate.

This comes as the gap between the Kenyatta-allied Kieleweke faction of the Jubilee Party and Deputy President William Ruto-leaning Kieleweke teams widens.

The President was expected at the meeting around 3pm Tuesday
