Political leaders affiliated to Deputy President William Ruto have announced plans to bypass Jubilee party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju.

The disgruntled politicians plan to convene a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting without involving Mr Tuju. The NEC has not met since the 2017 elections.

The Secretary-General had stated that he is not able to convene the meeting because he is operating on an acing capacity.

“As it is, we are currently operating under Article 33 of the Constitution, the transitional clause. Under this law, I cannot purport to claim to be the bonafide Secretary-General, and this applies to all other officials on acting capacity. As such, it is difficult for even me to convene the demanded NEC when I don’t have a full mandate as an elected official,” Tuju was quoted by a local daily.

The DP’s allies now state that Tuju’s deputy, Soy MP Caleb Kositany, who is allowed by the party constitution to deputise the SG, will convene the meeting.

SG Tuju offended a section of Jubilee party members after he submitted a list of changes to names of the party’s National Management Committee (NMC) to the Registrar of political parties.

Kositany in a protest letter on Friday noted it is not going to be business as usual in the running of party affairs.

“Arrangements are currently underway to convene the NEC meeting in compliance with the directions issued by the Registrar of Political Parties on 16th April, 2020. The registrar directed that any such changes should be made in accordance with the procedures and processes of the Jubilee party constitution and structures,” the disgruntled MPs stated in a letter.

Mr Kositany on Sunday added: “Look at the party constitution. We have many options. We are preparing for the meeting, where we intend to make right all wrongs that have been done in Jubilee. It is not going to be business as usual.”

Police in Eldoret have lobbied teargas canisters at Tanga Tanga MP Dr. Swarup Mishra who was donating foodstuff to Muslims in Uasin Gishu.

He was forced to run for his safety while the Muslim faithfuls were dispersed.

“I was giving food stuff to Muslims at Jamia mosques and Huddah Muslim when the police threw teargas canisters. I don’t know the mistake I committed to deserve that,” said the deputy President William Ruto allied MP.

He condemned the police for using teargas to disperse Muslims who had not committed any crime.

Dr. Mishra was distributing foodstuffs to over 1000 Muslim Muslim households living in Uasin Gishu at  Huddah Muslim School and Jamia Mosque in Eldoret town.

The Kesses legislator further refuted claims on social media that he gives food donation to get political mileage.

“I want to state here here without fear or contradiction that I usually give foodstuff to help the needy in the society who cannot afford a single meal per day and not for my own political gain,” said the deputy president William Ruto allied MP.

“Let me tell you nobody is rich and nobody is poor only God is rich and am giving the food to show the love and care to the less fortunate,” added the Kesses legislator.

He called on Kenyans to strictly follow the directives by the government to prevent further spread of coronavirus which has so far infected 435 Kenyans and claimed 23 lives.

“Ensure that you wash your hands before and after every activity, observing social distance, avoiding overcrowded areas putting in Facemask and staying at home if possible,” Dr. Mishra said.

Flamboyant city lawyer Donald Kipkorir has defended himself after cyber bullies landed on him on Thursday morning.

The controversial lawyer took to his social media account to complain about the trolling he has been facing on twitter.

According to him, his social media bullies are from one wing of the ruling Jubilee party.

He says he don’t understand why he is being trolled yet he has no any political ambitions, neither does he hold any public office in Kenya.

The lawyer goes ahead to note that he has nothing to do with the current squabbles being faced in jubilee party, arguing that losers should have themselves to blame.

“Am not in Public Office & have no political ambitions .. I don’t understand why digital terrorists from one wing of Jubilee have to troll me all the time.. I have nothing to do with collapse of Jubilee or destruction of dreams of some people .. Losers should blame themselves,” he tweeted.

Kenyans on twitter on Thursday morning woke up to troll the lawyer under the hashtag #SonkoMalong, a tag he was given by economist David Ndii sometime back when they differed on political opinions.

KOT have been trolling him, with some referring to him as a slayqueen lawyer.

Some, while attacking him, doubted whether his wealth is as a result of his legal practice.

Here are screenshots of some of the reactions.

His Thursday morning attack resulted from his comment on one of the local dailies, where he argued that he is never bothered about changes in fuel prices in Kenya, since they don’t affect him.

A Tanga Tanga lawmaker who had self-isolated himself after coming from an international trip, has completed his 14 days of self-quarantine.

The Kericho senator Aaron Cheruiyot, who is allied to Jubilee’s Tanga Tanga faction, isolated himself after jetting into the country from London.

Cheruiyot on March 18 via his twitter account said he was self-quarantining at home, a fortnight after visiting the Emirates Stadium in London.

On Tuesday March 24, 2020, Cheruiyot through his twitter account again, announced that he had completed his 14 days of self-quarantine without any issue.

He said he woke up with his heart filled with joy as he completed his 14th day with no issue.

The lawmaker noted that it is a tough season for every human being, urging people to be vigilant, observe health rules, pray, remain hopeful.

He notes that when people come together in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, the fight shall be won.

“Woke up with a heart filled with joy. Cleared the 14th day with no issue. It’s a tough season for every human being.Let us be vigilant, observe the health rules, pray, remain hopeful & together we shall most definetly win,” he posted.

Cheruiyot was in attendance at the Arsenal stadium in London when coach Mikel Arteta’s side beat West Ham 1-0 in an English Premier League match on March 7.

He later posted a photo of himself at the 60,000-seater stadium and even lauded French striker Alexandre Lacazette who scored the lone goal.

Soon after, Arteta tested positive for coronavirus and the club postponed two league matches against Manchester City and Brighton before the league cancelled all fixtures in the competition altogether.

As a measure to contain the COVID-19, the government announced that all Kenyans returning home from overseas trip must self-quarantine for 14 days.

The country has so far confirmed 16 cases of COVID-19.

A Tanga Tanga lawmaker has come out to reveal the message she was allegedly sent by people she believes to be hired hitmen.

The Kandara MP Alice Wahome reiterates that her life is still in danger following threatening calls and messages she had received and circumstances surrounding the withdrawal of her security in January.

While speaking during K24’s Punchline show hosted by Anne Kiguta, Wahome claimed that threats to her life were linked to her firm political stand and her remarks which she directed at President Uhuru Kenyatta in a presser on January 2.

“I believe my life is in danger because of the events surrounding the withdrawal of my security after the new year when I issued a press statement. I think the statement made very many people in the political sector uncomfortable possibly because of the things I said regarding our economy, adherence to the constitution, including the limitation of the term of the President and whether he can run again or extend his term,” she said.

She also stated that her press conference triggered many other individuals within her Kandara constituency and Murang’a county to issue attacks through the media, which according to her, were being organised and financed by a higher authority.

The vocal legislator went on to reveal that she became aware that she was a marked woman when she received two mysterious phone calls in December last year.

“Around December I received two phone calls. One did not go through, another one went off (but) when I took the third call, the caller said that he had been asked to kill me by some politicians from Nairobi,” Wahome said.

“He then sent me a text, but I didn’t take it seriously then until my security was withdrawn.”

Wahome, who is allied to the Tangatanga faction of Jubilee Party which supports Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 bid for the presidency, divulged that the hitman specifically said that they had been hired to kill her.

However, when asked whether she answered back, the MP said she hadn’t but had put it as a statement in Kandara.

She also revisited a January 15 incident in which she claimed that hired goons and university students had been ferried to disrupt her event as she issued bursary cheques in the constituency.

“There was a major attempt to disrupt the bursary ceremony. Over 22 students from the University of Nairobi and MK were ferried to the scene to cause chaos but they were arrested. It was after this incident that I started seeing issues and the people who made the statement made it clear that they would not allow me to continue with my work and issue press conferences. Of course, they can’t do that!” Wahome added.

There is confusion in Jubilee’s Tanga Tanga faction over their stand on Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).

The Deputy President Dr William Ruto allied lawmakers led by Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen on Friday changed their tune on BBI again, making another major declaration.

Just a few days ago, Tanga Tanga members announced the beginning of their own BBI rallies after their Naivasha retreat.

They announced that the first rally will be held in Nakuru County on February 8, 2020.

They outlined that the ongoing rallies spear-headed by handshake partner Raila Odinga have proved to be politically inclined.

However, the group has changed their tune, announcing that they will not be having their parallel rallies again.

The DP Ruto’s allies led by Senator Murkomen have now vowed to attend all BBI rallies across the country, dropping their intentions to run parallel events.

This comes days after President Uhuru Kenyatta summoned Ruto to State House over the Parallel BBI Rallies.

President Uhuru on Monday, January 27, summoned his deputy William Ruto at State House, Nairobi, and gave him a dressing down over parallel BBI meetings planned by the DP’s allies.

The head of state read a riot act to Ruto expressing his displeasure at the persistent attempts by the DP’s lieutenants to frustrate efforts of uniting Kenyans through the BBI, which is a brainchild of the March 9, 2018, handshake Uhuru had with ODM party leader Raila Odinga.

A section of Tanga Tanga members, a Jubilee Party faction associated with Deputy President William Ruto are now blaming Raila Odinga-led ODM party for their woes.

The Tanga Tanga group over the weekend held a retreat meeting in Naivasha which they termed as Jubilee party Parliamentary Group meeting.

However, their meeting was on Monday evening dismissed by Jubilee party Secretary General Raphael Tuju.

Tuju through a notice issued on Monday evening said the Naivasha meeting convened by members of its Tanga Tanga faction, was not a PG meeting.

Tuju said that such a meeting cannot and will never qualify to be a PG meeting.

According to Tuju, a PG meeting is only valid when it is convened and chaired by party leader or such other person whom the party leader may delegate the role.

He added that any resolutions of any meeting not convened in accordance with party’s provisions are not official party’s resolutions.

However, Nandi County Senator Samson Cherargei who is a tanga tanga member that was present in Naivasha retreat meeting says that Tuju is pushing an ODM narrative.

He accuses Tuju of working together with the enemies who are plotting to kill Jubilee.

According to Cherargei, their enemies fear that Jubilee has become a formidable political party with a national outlook.

“Tuju is pushing an ODM narrative & he is in bed with enemies & merchants who want to kill jubilee. they fear that jubilee has become a formidable political party with a national outlook.
I didn’t know being a CS without a portfolio is this idle,” he tweeted.

The Tanga Tanga MPs had announced the beginning of their own BBI rallies after the retreat.

The MPs said that the first rally will be held in Nakuru County on February 8, 2020.

The group outlined that the ongoing rallies spear-headed by handshake partner Raila Odinga have proved to be politically inclined.

The MPs noted that part of their recommendations on the BBI report include a 5% allocation of the national budget to go to farmers in Kenya.

They also recommended another 5% to be allocated to the unemployed or job seeking graduates in Kenya as a stipend to cater for their needs before they get a stable source of income.

Lastly, the Tanga Tanga squad recommended 3.5% allocation of the national budget to be directed to of the Judiciary arm of government for it to act independently.

Led by National Parliament chief whip Benjamin Washiali, the Tanga Tanga members had gone to the the factory to discuss with the management aiming at reaching a solution to revive the lost glory of the company.

However, their efforts bore no fruits when the security team barred them from entering the company’s premises.

This act prompted them to address the public from the outside the company’s ground where they strongly condemned the act claiming that it was the government’s property and everyone had a right to access it.

The seemingly disappointed Washiali who was in the company of former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa, Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, Matungu MP Justus Murunga, Webuye West MP Dan Wanyama, Sirisia MP John Walukhe and former Kakamega senator Boni Khalwale expressed his dissatisfaction towards the act.

“We have come here as leaders to find a way to solve the challenge that is affecting us due to the collapse of the company and has therefore pulled down the economic prosperity of this region and yet they have locked us out,” he ranted .

Dan Wanyama called upon president Uhuru Kenyatta to intervene and help to revive the ailing miller.

The lawmaker noted that through its revival, the farmers, workers and even the surrounding community will benefit from the economic value of the company.

The very sentiments were echoed by his Bumula counterpart Mwambu Mabonga who also noted that the fall of Nzoia has been a nightmare to the region and hence contributed to the fall of developments in the region starting from the families which are struggling to make the ends meet.

He called upon the leaders to come on board and coordinate with the Nzoia managerial team to find a solution as soon as possible.

He also promised that when they have a parliamentary seating next month, the issue will be taken to the agricultural committee so as they also chip in to find a solution to this menace.

Four lawmakers allied to Deputy President Dr William Ruto are crying foul after being locked out of president Uhuru Kenyatta’s event.

Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, Nakuru Town West MP David Gikaria, Martha Wangari (Gilgil) and Samuel Gachobe (Subukia) had Tuesday gone to attend a presidential function where President Kenyatta was expected to issue about 68,000 titles deed to settlers in Njoro, Gilgil, Rongai and Naivasha.

Kihika says that they were barred from accessing on claims that they belong to another political group.

According to her, security officers were following orders from above.

“Earlier today the area MP Hon Gikaria and I were refused entry into a PUBLIC function where the President will be issuing Title Deeds to the people of Nakuru County. We were informed that orders from above are that we cannot be allowed entry because we belong to an Unwanted Faction!” Kihika posted on her facebook account.

Kikaria gave up and left the venue in a huff having told the officers to keep the meeting to themselves.

Gikaria lamented that his time will come when he will be then one vetting who goes in.

Charity Kathambi of Njoro also boycotted the meeting despite most of the beneficiaries being her constituents.

MPs Wangari and Gachobe were later allowed to enter the function following the intervention of the Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya to have them allowed in.

The RC sent Nakuru County Commissioner to go pick the two legislators from the gate.

This comes as the gap between the Kenyatta-allied Kieleweke faction of the Jubilee Party and Deputy President William Ruto-leaning Kieleweke teams widens.

The President was expected at the meeting around 3pm Tuesday

Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen has promised to teach aspiring Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi a lesson over his mockery on Jubilee’s tanga tanga faction members.

Havi on Saturday morning shared a video of tanga tanga members led by Kandara MP Alice Wahome being teargassed and chased from Kilimai police station when they went to demand the release of Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria.

Havi termed the group defending Kuria as “Wajinga nyinyi” victims, telling Kenyans to look at the events the members were doing in 2017 and 2018.

He said that the State has never been the citizen’s friend even when you are part of it.

“The State has never been the citizen’s friend even when you are part of it. If in doubt, study the origin of State or check what these Wajinga Nyinyi‘victims’ were doing and saying in 2017 and 2018,” he posted.

A seemingly angry Murkomen jumped on the post, reminding Havi that Alice Wahome was a senior member of the bar.

He reminded Havi of his LSK presidency aspirations, telling him that he was mocking the members who should vote for him.

“Acha kieleweke” ( Let it be understood) is the phrase Murkomen left Havi with.

“Hon.Alice is a senior member of the bar. A Court order has been ignored. You want to be President LSK. You are mocking members. Wacha Kieleweke,” Murkomen posted.

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and Alice Wahome are some of the legislators that were on Friday night teargassed while camping outside Kilimani Police Station.

The two were among a group of Tanga tanga allied MPs waiting for detained Gatundu South MP to be released on a Sh50,000 bond.

Kuria was apprehended earlier Friday after a Kiambu woman accused him of assaulting her in December 2019, claims he has since denied.

The lawmaker said Joyce Wanja tried to blackmail him prompting to record a statement at Kilimani Police Station on December 10, two days after the assault incident at Inooro TV studios.

Details of a meeting convened by Deputy President Dr William Ruto’s allies immediately President Uhuru Kenyatta left Sagana State Lodge meeting on Friday have emerged.

It is understood that Ruto’s tanga tanga brigade coalesced once again to re-look their strategy after President Kenyatta contradicted Ruto on the Kibra by-election, the essence of the handshake and the 2022 deal with Opposition leader Raila Odinga.

According to the Sunday Standard, a late lunch at the Ngorano village home of Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua was hastily convened where 15 Ruto allies conducted a quick postmortem of Uhuru’s event.

Besides the host, those who attended the meeting were Susan Kihika (Nakuru Senator) and MPs Jayne Kihara (Naivasha), Mary Wamaua (Maragua), Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati), John Kiarie (Dagorreti South) and Ndindi Nyoro of Kiharu.

Others were Woman Reps Catherine Waruguru (Laikipia) Beatrice Nkatha (Tharaka Nithi), Purity Ngirichi (Kirinyaga) and Rahab Mukami of Nyeri.

“I regret attending it. It was a waste of time and nothing was achieved. It was choreographed to achieve the organisers intentions,” Mr Kuria said of the Sagana meeting, lifting the veil of the disappointment among his colleagues.

Moses Kuria told the local daily that those who spoke were predetermined and had been told what to say thus negating any effort at unity.

According to sources who attended the Gachagua lunch date, the team discussed their alleged humiliation by the President and how to counter the same in the coming days.

Besides missing out on speaking slots, the bad chemistry between them and the President’s men was on full display in Sagana.

Sources in Tangatanga told the Sunday Standard that the Gachagua lunch floated the idea of popularising the rejection of BBI ahead of the anticipated presidential tours of the region.

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has hit out at a Jubilee politicians who engaged in a fight on Sunday disrupting a church service in Murang’a.

Business at Gitui Catholic Church in Kiharu constituency came to a standstill after area MP Ndindi Nyoro stormed in and demanded to preside over a fundraiser that was going on led by Nominated Member of Parliament Maina Kamanda.

Nyoro, who is allied to Deputy President William Ruto-led Tanga Tanga faction, accused Kamanda and his Kieleweke group of disrespecting him by taking over a function in his constituency.

The fundraiser was disrupted for over ten minutes as security officers and church leaders tried to calm down the politicians and their supporters.

Revisiting Saturday’s peaceful Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party primaries, Kuria lashed at the two waring factions and accused them of soiling a holy place.

In a Facebook post, the vocal MP further accused Mt Kenya politicians of engaging in early campaigns and fighting unnecessarily for leaders who may forge an alliance ahead of the next election.

With over 1,000 days to go before the next elections. The rest of the country is calm. One can be forgiven for assuming that the next elections will take place in Mt Kenya only. What will you tell the people when Raila Odinga and William Ruto gang up to form a united team to take over in 2022?” he posted.

Nyoro on Sunday night was holed inside Royal Media Services since 9.30pm, evading arrest. He went to RMS’s Inooro TV for a show that was to end at 9pm.A few minutes to midnight, he is said to have sneaked out.

Two Members of Parliament were on Sunday September 8, 2019 reported to have traded blows at a Church function when chaos erupted.

The two, nominated MP Maina Kamanda allie to the Kieleweke faction of Jubilee Party and Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro who is allied to Jubilee’s Tanga Tanga faction traded blows at Gitu Catholic Church in Murang’ a County  when they clashed over who should be allowed to welcome leaders present to the altar to speak .

According to Daily Nation, the incident happened during a fundraising by the Kieleweke faction of the Jubilee party, that Nyoro stopped the function over the protocol and insisted on taking over the function.

It is reported that Kiharu MP came in late after over 20 members allied to the Kieleweke movement had taken their seats.

Kamanda is reported to have been on his feet then addressing the crowd and Kiharu MP waited for his turn.

When his turn came, he addressed the crowd and insisted on inviting a guest to speak, a matter that Kamanda objected to.

“I can’t allow people from Nairobi to come and take over my constituency as if they know this area. I am an elected leader and I tell Kamanda to his face that let them produce the list of the guests so that I can invite them,” Nyoro maintained.

This tussle led to his supporters flooding the altar in support of their Member of Parliament.

Efforts by the church heads to intervene amounted to naught as the warring parties pushed them to the edge of the crowd that had milled in front.

Legislators allied to Deputy President Dr William Ruto seem to have already started issuing warnings that Ruto’s team is carefully profiling people opposed to his candidature.

In his remarks on Sunday, Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei seemed to conclude that those opposed to Dr Ruto will face unspecified consequences should he win in 2022.

He accused unnamed people of causing havoc against the DP, adding that Tanga Tanga has already marked them for retaliation in 2022.

“Let me finish by saying, those people who have continued to fight DP William Ruto, we are profiling you. When you are fighting the deputy president, you are fighting us.

“Don’t think that the DP does not have his supporters. We see here. Continue abusing him but know that we are marking and profiling you. When that time comes, we shall deal with you. He also have his people, don’t joke,”he said.

Dr Ruto is one of the front runners for 2022 polls. On Sunday in Meru, he said that he’s ready to tackle opposition leader Raila Odinga, who has however not declared interest.

Mr Odinga dismissed an article by Sunday Nation which claimed that he’s contesting. He has since given the publication 24 hours to issue an apology.

Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu took issues with Cherargei’s remarks, demanding to know the people Ruto’s team is targeting in 2022.

After the emergence of two factions in ruling party’s Jubilee, two different women groups linked to the factions have been given birth to.

The Kieleweke faction that spearheads President Uhuru Kenyatta’s development agenda has team Embrace women group and the Tanga tanga group which has hence launched early presidential campaigns for deputy President Dr William Ruto has team Inua mama.

On Friday, the groups held two different rallies. Team Embrace was in Kakamega’s Bukhungu stadium whilst team inua mama camped in Nyeri town.

However, the inua mama rally in Nyeri turned out to be chaotic.

This has forced Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu to react following the chaotic Tanga Tanga rally at his backyard.

The group of women supporting Ruto’s bid had to cancel a rally organised by Nyeri Woman Representative Rahab Mukami, following the chaotic scenes.

Ngunjiri, who has been critical of the pro-Ruto team dubbed as Tanga Tanga, took to Facebook to warn against future rallies in the constituency.

“Am sorry. But #2022 siasa in Nyeri Constituency. At this time is a No,” wrote Wambugu, after forcefully storming the rally that was later called off.

The team had earlier toured neighboring Kirinyaga County where they were hosted by Purity Ngirici. It was the second time a pro-Ruto rally was being disrupted in Nyeri.

Among the leaders present were county MPs Wangui Ngirici (Kirinyaga) Jane Chebaibai (Elgeyo Marakwet) Gladys Boss-Shollei (Uasin Gishu) Beatrice Nkatha (Tharaka/Nithi), Gertrude Mbeyu (Kilifi), Lydia Haika (Taita Taveta) and Faith Gitau (Nyandarua).

According to Wambugu, the women legislators did not say anything of substance apart from uttering abusive statements in their rally.

“THEN OF COURSE – I VISITED THE ‘INUA-WHATEVER’ EVENT THAT SOME FEMALE MPs BROUGHT TO NYERI …But lakini except matusi I didn’t actually hear anything else of substance. But we didn’t interrupt them. They spoke. Then they left. And we left,” he posted.
