A UDA aspirant is on spot over a woman who has cried out for help in Saudi Arabia. The 29-year-old woman is asking to be rescued from her employer in the Arab country before she ends up dead.

Nice Nayaz, a university graduate has been working as a house help in Saudi Arabia for the past three months. She alleges that she has never received her salary and she has been assaulted severally when she asked for her dues.

Sources say that an agency owned by an aspiring MCA for Kangema Ward Sultan Mundia took her to the country promising that she would be working as a cleaner in a company, only to end up working as a maid.

The politician is vocal about his candidacy on United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party and is currently busy campaigning for his seat in Kangema.

The woman’s family has written to the agency to repatriate her back to Kenya, arguing that there has been a breach of contract between her and the company.

According to a letter from advocate Gregory Ndege addressed to Echo Media Technology Co. Ltd located at Kimathi House in Nairobi, Nice claims that she has been sexually harassed by her employer.

The lawyer has demanded for her immediate release and return to Kenya, saying her parents are ready and willing to pay for her travel expenses.

Also in a voice recording to the agency, Nice says she has been working without rest or sleep.

“They locked me inside like a prisoner with CCTV watching me every time. It’s modern-day slavery. If I choose to come back home, why can’t I be released? This is too much. Kindly do something,” she said.

She added that there are other 36 girls going through the same ordeal and action should be rescued. She said she is tired and fatigued as she wakes up at 5:30 am and sleeps at 11:00 pm.

“I need to rest. They treat us as if we are stones. I just want to come back home. I will die here. My body cannot continue anymore,” Nice said.

In response, the owner of the company, Sultan Mundia, claims the lady has refused to work and this has brought a problem with the company’s payment system. He said the lady will receive her payment by Thursday, October 28, 2021.

A storm has broken out in Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party over its appointment of 31 officials.

On Thursday, some dissatisfied members protested that the list of the 31 officials, filed with the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) was not satisfactory.

UDA Chairman Johnstone Muthama on Tuesday said the officials would be members of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), an organ with a say in party nominations and elections.

Sources say the protests were so wrathful that UDA Secretary-General Veronica Maina in an attempt to calm the members reportedly posted in their Whatsapp group, “The party wishes to confirm that the list is not an actual representation of the party officials.”

However, Registrar of Political Parties Ann Nderitu confirmed that the list earlier published by Nation was the one received in their office.

The letter showing the list of the officials was received by ORPP on September 15, two weeks after the resolutions were approved by the party on August 30.

Some of the dissatisfied members who protested had gone to some late entrants to the the ‘hustler movement’ and complained they had either been left out or their regions ignored.

As a prove of divisions in the party, some MPs claimed it was not the final draft while the beneficiaries of the appointment celebrated.

Later, the DP headed to Mama Teresa home, a widow to the late former Bonchari MP Oroo Oyiako.

On his way back, another violence ensued causing a state of conodrum and panic while Ruto was preparing to address a crowd.

Residents scampered for safety and only returned after calm was restored when Ruto started his address. He condemned the act saying that it is not good for local leaders to pay youths to cause violence.

“I am calling on youths not to accept to be used to fight their colleagues. “You deserve a job and a business, not to be used as hooligans,” said Ruto.

He added that the money set aside for development should be used appropriately and not to pay for chaos.

He earlier on told off his critics for not taking serious his role in shaping Jubilee and development projects before falling out with his boss Uhuru Kenyatta.

He took credit for most development projects in Kisii saying that he took a big part in ensuring their implementation.

Ruto said he initiated the construction of over 3000 kms of tarmac road in the area, 140,000 households connected to electricity up from 27000 and provision of clean water.

His comments seemed to target interior CS Fred Matiangi who has also been taking credit of the achievements to his Gusii community. Ruto told the Gusii community to support him since he also has not abandoned them since 2013.

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has unveiled Teresa Bitutu Oroo, the wife to the late Bonchari MP Oroo Oyioka as its preferred candidate in the upcoming parliamentary by-election.

Johnson Muthama, the chairman of the party associated with Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday, March 25 announced that the party’s Secretary General Veronica Maina had issued certificate to the ex-MP’s widow to fly its flag.

The party also issued nomination certificate to Francis Muraya Githaiga, who will fly its flag in the forthcoming Rurii ward mini polls.

“Another significant day to @UDAKenya. Our Secretary General, Veronica Maina has issued certificates to Teresa Bitutu Oroo and Francis Muraya Githaiga to fly the party’s flag in the upcoming by-elections in Bonchari constituency and Rurii ward respectively,” Muthama tweeted.

Bitutu will now face off with ODM’s Pavel Oimeke and Jubilee’s Zebedeo Opore in the Bonchari by-election.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission slated the by-elections for Garissa, Bonchari, and Juja on May 18.

The by-election for Rurii Ward in Nyandarua County will also be held on the same date.

The One Kenya Alliance will not participate in the forthcoming by-elections and will instead support candidates fielded by the Jubilee Party.

Members of the alliance, which brings together Kanu, Wiper, Ford Kenya and ANC parties, said the move was aimed at reciprocating the support Jubilee gave them in recent by-elections in Matungu, Kabuchai and Machakos.

Speaking during a press conference in Nairobi on Thursday, Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula expressed gratitude to Jubilee for its support during the by-elections.

Wetang’ula said their victory in the concluded by-elections was an indication that the country was keen on a new transformational agenda.

Mudavadi said members of the alliance will move together to sensitise Kenyans about their agenda.
