The ministry of Transport and infrastructure Cabinet Secretary nominee Kipchumba Murkomen has revealed his last moments with the immediate former Ainabkoi MP William Chepkut who passed on this morning.

Taking to his official Twitter account to mourn the late politician, Murkomen revealed that he was with Chepkut last evening up to around 8:00pm.

The iimmediate former Elgeyo Marakwet senator noted that he had met Chepkut who was in the company of his friends and that he was in a very jovial mood.

Murkomen ssaid that Chepkut had showered him with praises and when they parted ways at 8:00pm on Friday, they had agreed to meet soon and discuss matters infrastructure.

“Last evening I met Hon. William Chepkut in the company of his friends. He was in a very jovial mood. In his characteristic manner he showered me with many praises using all the superlatives in the book. William was a very lovely guy, Extremely connected, Loyal to his seniors almost to a fault,” Murkomen said.

“When we parted last night at 8PM we agreed to meet soon to discuss matters Infrustructure. I didn’t know it was going to be the last time with him. Fare thee well Hon. William Chepkut,” added Murkomen.

Chepkut was confirmed dead by his family on Saturday morning.

According to the family, the former lawmaker collapsed at his house and was rushed to a Nairobi hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

Chepkut has been sickly since 2021 and has been in and out of hospital beds for the period between 2021 and 2022.

He had lost his Ainabkoi parliamentary seat to UDA’s Chepkonga after efforts to defend it as an independent candidate failed.

He had been first elected in 2017 and served in the 12th parliament until August 2022 when he lost the seat.

He had also served as personal assistant to former powerful minister the late Nicholas Biwott.

Several leaders, including Members of Parliament have mourned Chepkut’s demise.

As Kenyans continue mourning the sudden death of immediate former Ainabkoi MP William Chepkut, there are many things they will live to remember him for.

From his humor while serving in the 12th parliament, to some of the controversies he was caught up in.

Chepkut collapsed on Saturday morning and was rushed to Mediheal Hospital in Nairobi where he was pronounced dead.

Well, in March 2019, the longest serving personal assistant of the late powerful minister Nicholas Biwott was caught up in a scandal with a bank after defaulting on a loan.

The bank was forced to put up for auction his multi-million shilling hotel in Eldoret.

Royalton Hotel which was owned by the late William Chepkut sat on a 3.68-acre piece of land and contained six cottages, five related buildings and lodging blocks.

The auction notice published in March 2019 by Watts Auctioneers invited potential buyers of the hotel to attend a sale event mid the following month.

According to the notice, a deposit of at least 25 per cent was required.

The auction came as the number of properties going under the hammer or businesses crippled by mounting debt had risen sharply.

The hotel’s lodging block comprised a three-storey building with each floor accommodating similar eight self-contained lodging rooms.

The immediate former Ainabkoi Member of Parliament William Chepkut is dead.

The former lawmaker’s family confirmed his death on Saturday morning.

According to the family, Chepkut collapsed in his house and was rushed to Mediheal hospital parklands where he was pronounced dead.

The comical former lawmaker has been unwell for sometime and was admitted to hospital for long between late last year and early this year.

Chepkut served as Ainabkoi MP between 2017 and 2022 after being elected as an independent candidate.

lost to Samwel Chepkonga of UDA party in the just concluded August 2022 general election.

He also served as the personal assistant of the late Nicholas Biwott.

Just hours after Garissa Township MP Aden Duale being ousted from his position as the National Assembly Majority leader, a Rift Valley MP has taken to social media to celebrate.

The Ainabkoi MP William Chepkut took to his official twitter account to express his excitement following Duale’s ouster.

The lawmaker revealed that Duale in 2017, alongside other mandarins in the ruling Jubilee party compromised his victory in the Jubilee party primaries.

Chepkut says that the Jubilee ticket was awarded to his rival Cheptonga, despite him emerging victorious.

Citing that time was really an equalizer, the MP was grateful that today (Monday June 22, 2020), Duale was ousted as the Majority leader.

“Aden Duale with other Jubilee mandarins in 2017 during jubilee primaries in Munyaka compromised my win and awarded the ticket to Chepkonga. Today he has been ousted as Majority leader,truly time is an equalizer!” he tweeted.

In the changes that were made during a Jubilee Coalition Parliamentary Group meeting chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta this morning at Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Duale was replaced by Kipipiri MP Amos Kimunya.

Aden Keynan was appointed as the new Jubilee Coalition Secretary, taking over from Kimunya.

The changes were read out by Jubilee Majority Whip Emmanuel Wangwe, as soon as President Kenyatta walked in. His Deputy William Ruto was also present, but MPs loyal to him were missing.

The meeting lasted about 30 minutes, with no speeches or questions.

Duale’s ouster followed a petition from more than 130 MPs who accused him sabotaging the Jubilee agenda.
